What is the Bremont Terra Nova 38 Jumping Hour Stealth Black?
It is a black DLC coated version of Bremont’s Terra Nova 38 Jumping Hour. It is inspired by military watches, more specifically “early 20th-century military pocket and trench watches” and features a Montres à Guichet design or “windows” for hours, minutes, and seconds.
“The introduction of a Stealth Black DLC edition to the Terra Nova Jumping Hour brings a new attitude to the montres à guichet design. Modern and unexpected, the all-black aesthetic makes a powerful statement — transformative in its impact, sharpening the design and strengthening its character.” – Davide Cerrato, Bremont CEO.
Does it have a dial?

Not in the conventional sense. The watch features a closed case design with linear apertures for the jumping hour, compass design small-seconds, and trailing minutes. The white numerals for the hours and minutes are printed on their respective discs.
What are its case, bracelet and strap features?

Its two-part cushion-shaped case is made from DLC coated satin and polished 904L stainless steel. It measures 38 mm (diameter) * 44 mm (length) * 9.10 mm (thickness). Lug width: 20 mm. The apertures for the jumping hour, small seconds, and trailing minutes feature sapphire crystals. Water resistant up to 3 ATM or approximately 30 metres.
Bracelet version: Made from DLC coated polished and brushed 904L stainless steel with quick release and a butterfly clasp.

Leather bund strap: The black leather bund strap “continues the collection’s nod to early 20th century watch design as they were first used by pilots during WWII to protect their wrists from extreme temperatures. The design also gained popularity amongst alpinists, equally seeking comfort in extreme environments.” The bund can be removed, revealing a traditional black calfskin leather strap.
Is it powered by an automatic movement?
Yes. It is powered by BC634AH, an automatic movement developed by Sellita for Bremont that drives the jumping hour, trailing minutes, and small seconds. It comprises 29 jewels, beats at a modern rate of 4 Hz or 28,800 vph and has a power reserve of 56 hours. The movement features a Glucydur balance wheel, an Anachron balance spring and a Nivaflex mainspring.
“The high performance Bremont Jumping Hour movement operates through a system of gears and springs, allowing the hour disc to “jump” to the next numeral at the exact moment the minute hand completes a full revolution. In this instance the calibre developed is high performance with high torque, ensuring the jump is less than 1/10 second.”
What do we think?

The Terra Nova 38 Jumping Hour is my favourite watch from the British brand. In its black DLC guise, it takes on a bold personality. Less versatile than the “regular” stainless steel version, it will nevertheless appeal to collectors seeking a historically inspired watch with a sophisticated jumping hour movement at a relatively accessible price. The leather bund strap version would be my pick.
