What is the new DANIEL ROTH Extra Plat Rose Gold Skeleton?

It is a skeletonised or openworked version of the Extra Plat; the brand’s gorgeous two-hand watch and one of their “most celebrated creations.” Under LVMH ownership, the brand unveiled the Extra Plat Souscription – a yellow gold limited edition of 20 pieces during LVMH Watch Week 2025 in New York, and the Extra Plat Rose Gold – a rose gold non limited edition with a transparent caseback around May last year.
What are its dial features?

No dial as such. Rather the wearer is treated to an unobstructed view of the openworked Calibre DR002SR crafted in 18K 5N rose gold that matches the case. The blued steel hands and the blue fonts contrast well with the rose gold movement and case.
What are the features of Calibre DR002SR?

The watch is powered by Calibre DR002SR, a manufacture manual winding movement developed and assembled at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton “under the supervision of Master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini.”
A double-ellipse shaped form movement, it drives the hours and minutes. Dimensions: 31 mm * 28 mm. Thickness: 3.1 mm. Parts: 141. Jewels: 21. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 65 hours (approximately). Movement features a variable-inertia or free-sprung balance wheel.
How slim is the case?
The double-ellipse shaped case is crafted from rose gold 5N. It measures 38.6 mm * 35.5 mm, with a thickness of 6.9 mm. Lug width: 20 mm. Dial side features a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, and caseback features a sapphire crystal. Water resistant up to 30 metres. The watch comes with a calfskin leather strap.
What do we think?

I was fortunate to see the DANIEL ROTH lineup at the recently held Dubai Watch Week 2025; they are beautiful in the flesh. DANIEL ROTH the brand has long since moved beyond its founder – DANIEL ROTH the man. Under LVMH’s ownership and direction, their watches evoke the excitement of the best of independent watchmaking yet are backed by the stability of a giant conglomerate.
The Extra Plat Rose Gold Skeleton is a worthy addition to the brand’s lineup; yet most importantly pays a heartfelt tribute to the watchmaking prowess of Mr. Roth – a pioneer of independent watchmaking and one of the greatest ever.
