Project VIVA By McLaren MSO An Artistic Vision That Blends McLaren’s Heritage With Las Vegas’s Vibrant Spirit

The project celebrates significant milestones in McLaren's history through meticulously detailed artwork throughout the bodywork.

The founding numbers of Las Vegas and McLaren are depicted as a carefully drawn die. At the same time, the rear bumper is adorned with ten stars representing the World Constructors’ Championship titles, hand-drawn by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to commemorate the tenth title in 2025. Silhouettes of all championship-winning McLarens are also featured, arranged chronologically on the painted circuits surrounding the car.

The project pays tribute to Bruce McLaren’s beginnings by placing the Muriwai Trophy and his first race number, 58, on the front arch, along with a depiction of his helmet inside a small heart that embodies the essence of the brand. The heritage Speedy Kiwi helmet is given a modern twist, blending McLaren’s legacy with its innovative identity, while the interior sills feature driver signatures and midnight mountain graphics.

Neon arrows nod to iconic neon signs, and the word “Fabulous” is hidden beneath the rear wing, a reference to the city’s famous welcome sign. The hood displays the slogan “Welcome to fabulous MSO,” inspired by the legendary sign’s design.

Stylised card motifs on the rear panel form the letters 750S, while small circular details hold commemorative symbols, including the 120th anniversary of Las Vegas and McLaren’s Speedmark logo. Lines inspired by wedding chapels and romantic spirit add artistic touches that integrate the city’s culture with the car’s dynamic design.

The desert landscape is depicted through undulating lines on the rear side, and the surrounding terrain of Nevada is subtly incorporated into the cityscape. At the front of the car, intricate details are inspired by the pyramidal architecture of the Las Vegas skyline, while other flowing lines represent the iconic fountains of the Strip. American stars and a delicately rendered cactus add a distinctive touch, reminiscent of the Nevada desert.

The VIVA is McLaren’s first “sketch in motion” concept, which allows designers to create freehand drawings directly on the body. The “Vegas Nights” paint finish features a black base with neon accents that shift with the light, evoking the city’s nighttime atmosphere. The “Muriwai White” paint scheme, inspired by Bruce McLaren’s Muriwai house, reflects the founder’s connection to his roots and beginnings.
