BYD officially opened a new energy vehicle race track in Zhengzhou, one of the first in China specifically designed for new energy vehicles, along with several others under the plan.
The track features eight experience zones, including an indoor dune, a low-friction ring, a kick-plate, a wading pool, a dynamic paddock, a racing track, an off-road park, and a camping area.

The Zhengzhou indoor dune boasts a vertical drop of 29.6 metres and a 28-degree slope. Guinness World Records has recognised it as the highest and largest dune climbing facility for automotive testing. The dune was constructed using 6,200 tons of sand to mimic the granular structure of the Alxa Desert, offering a unique dune driving experience for everyone.

The 70-metre-long water crossing pool was specially designed for the YANGWANG U8. Through the underwater observation glass, visitors can watch the car smoothly manoeuvre forward, turn, and reverse in the water under the control of the e4 platform, which has redefined safety standards in extreme driving scenarios.

In addition to providing exceptional driving experiences, the track is also an ideal venue to showcase safety technologies in new energy vehicles.
The low-friction circuit, the first circular track in China with a diameter of 44 metres, consists of 30,000 smooth basalt blocks and a 3mm-thick water-filled surface. This ensures a consistent coefficient of friction between ice and snow.

The 1,758-metre race track includes nine curves and a 550-metre straight acceleration section. Drivers can experience thrilling acceleration on a straightaway or test their vehicle’s steering precision on extreme corners.
The 15,300-square-metre dynamic driving paddock features more than a dozen scenarios, such as standard slalom, moose testing, and automated parking, showcasing BYD’s full range of intelligent technologies.
It offers 27 off-road driving scenarios, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Even urban SUVs can confidently navigate beginner terrain thanks to the intelligent all-wheel drive system.

In addition to the Zhengzhou circuit, BYD tracks in Hefei and Shaoxing will soon open. Notably, the Shaoxing off-road area covers 2,000 acres at an elevation of 500 metres.
BYD and the China Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (CAMF) officially announced the “New Track Scheme” to introduce more people to racing culture, targeting one million people and sponsoring 100 professional racers.
