The Lamborghini Temerario is a 907hp V8-hybrid Huracan successor

It gets an all-new aluminium chassis, 13 drive modes and does 100kph in 2.7secs

Only a handful of times has Lamborghini not named its creations after a glorious and accomplished bull. The 2024 Monterey Car Week is one of those times where Lamborghini has launched its all-new sports car called the Temerario. The Lamborghini Temerario replaces the decade-old but high-successful model from Lamborghini’s stable – the Huracan along with its 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 to debut an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 instead, built entirely from scratch in Sant’Agata Bolognese. And the best part? Lamborghini says the Temerario’s new V8 is the first and only production super sports car engine able to reach 10,000 rpm. We’ll take Lamborghini’s word for it.

While the name Temerario might give the impression of it being a flagship supercar to many, it means reckless in Spanish. On the performance figures front, the Temerario lives up to its influential name with a power output of 907hp and 730Nm torque. With a dry weight of 1690 kilos courtesy of an all-new all-aluminium chassis and an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the Lamborghini Temerario can do the 0-100kph sprint in 2.7 seconds and gets a top speed of over 340kph.

Lamborghini has finished electrifying its entire product portfolio as the Temerario is the third car after the Revuelto and Urus SE to feature a hybrid powertrain setup. The new 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine is one of the most powerful engines in the segment and is accompanied by three electric motors. Two motors drive the front axle and one housed in between the V8 engine and the gearbox ensures immediate response starting from low engine speed and continues consistently through gear transitions, working as a “torque gap filler”.

Lamborghini claims the Temerario is built over a host of motorsport-derived ideas. Starting from the engine bay which observes the placement of most auxiliary units on one side, a practice seen in motorsports. The engine features a flat-plane crankshaft with a 180-degree angle between the crankshaft bends, typically used in racing engines and so are some of the engine casting materials. Additionally, as the Temerario’s engine speed climbs up to 10,000rpm, a feat only seen in motorsports, the seat vibrations also intensify. And finally, Lamborghini manages to do all this while the Temerario produces 50 percent less CO2 than the Huracan.

On the design front, Temerario boasts an “all-new persona characterized by reduction, clarity, sharpness”. The Temerario’s exterior gets draped in a blanket of a new hexagonal design element, be it on the front fog light DRLs or on the main bodywork, the side air intakes, the taillights and even over the exhaust pipe. To top it all off, the Temerario also gets a fixed rear spoiler to emphasize the car’s width and aid aerodynamics.

Lamborghini’s ‘Feel like a pilot’ philosophy comes to life in a new way inside the Temerario’s cabin with a low seat position and a slim and lightweight dashboard borrowing design cues from the Reveulto’s cabin. However, the new Temerario is the most advanced car in the history of Lamborghini from a multimedia perspective featuring wireless smartphone connectivity, on-board telemetry software and even camera for outside and inside the cabin to record racetrack experiences of the occupants on the racetrack.

The instrument cluster is an all-digital 12-inch unit featuring the new Human-Machine Interface (HMI) “Pilot Interaction” information system. Lamborghini developed this new graphics and design exclusively for the Temerario, evolving the new graphic design DNA started with Revuelto. A new 8.4-inch display mounted on the center console gives the option to swipe and individualize the themes. The Temerario offers 13 driving experiences with a Drift Mode option making its Lamborghini debut on the Temerario.

Customisations galore with the new Lamborghini Temerario as the seats are available in many different colors and four different stitching patterns. No other Lamborghini seat currently offers such a wide range of options as the newly-developed comfort seat in the Temerario. Many interior elements can also be ordered in carbon fiber as an option, including parts of the center console, air vents, door panels, parts of the dashboard, steering wheel and steering column. Even on the exterior, up to 400 body colours and special liveries will be available via Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program.

And for the first time when a Lamborghini debuts on the market, it will also be available with the ‘Alleggerita’ (lightweight), package for customers more oriented towards track driving. It reduces the car’s weight by 12.65 kg through body components alone, with a reduction of over 25 kg when incorporating lightweight interior elements and carbon rims.
