Arnold & Son unveils the Longitude Titanium

A homage to English watchmaker John Arnold and his pioneering work in marine chronometers.

Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024: April 9th – April 15th, 2024.

Just prior to Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024, Arnold & Son has unveiled the Longitude Titanium, a COSC-certified chronometer timepiece that pays homage to famed English watchmaker John Arnold (1736 – 1799), known for his pioneering work on “marine chronometers, his revolutionary vision and his decisive role in calculating longitude at sea.”

John Arnold crafted marine chronometers that had to survive the severe conditions of the high seas and provide accurate timekeeping. The Longitude Titanium combines this heritage – with its restrained design and highly resistant materials – and accuracy with its COSC-certified calibre.

Functions and Dial Versions

The Longitude Titanium’s functions are hours and minutes, small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, and power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock.

The Longitude Titanium is available in 3 dial versions: Kingsand Gold, Ocean Blue and Fern Green.

All three dials feature PVD treatment and a vertical satin finish.

The skeletonized hours and minutes hands are rhodium plated (Kingsand Gold and Ocean Blue) and golden finished (Fern Green) and are coated with Super-LumiNova.

The hour indexes are rhodium plated (Kingsand Gold and Ocean Blue) and golden finished (Fern Green) and are coated with Super-LumiNova.

The small seconds subdial features a snailed pattern. The colour of the small seconds hands are blue (Kingsand Gold), white (Ocean Blue), and golden (Fern Green).

The power reserve indicator features a blue PVD treatment (Kingsand Gold), rhodium plating (Ocean Blue) and golden finish (Fern Green).

Case, Bracelet and Rubber Strap

The Longitude Titanium’s case is crafted in titanium. It has a case diameter of 42.5 mm and a case thickness of 12.25 mm with crystal. The dial side has a sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The caseback side has a sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating. The case is water resistant up to 100 metres / 330 feet or 10 bar.

Its bracelet is crafted in titanium and features a folding clasp. An additional strap in blue or green rubber (depending on version) with a titanium pin buckle is provided.

Calibre

The Longitude Titanium is powered by in-house mechanical self-winding COSC-certified calibre A&S6302. The calibre has a diameter of 33.00 mm and a thickness of 6.65 mm. It has 36 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,000 vph or 4 Hz, and has a power reserve of 60 hours.

It features movement finishing such as:

– Mainplate features both a palladium finish and a circular-grained finish.

– Bridges feature a palladium finish and are polished and chamfered, with a “Rayons de la Gloire” motif.

– Wheels feature both a golden finish and a circular satin finish.

– Screws are blued and chamfered, and feature mirror-polished heads.

– Its self-winding rotor is crafted in 22K (5N) red gold and is skeletonized, chamfered, and engraved.

Calibre A&S6302 is visible via a sapphire caseback.
