Manthey Kit Makes Sportiest 718 Cayman Faster

Trackday enthusiasts should consider this optional extra.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is the most hardcore version in the range. So much so that it has lapped the Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes and 10 seconds. But what if you need that “something extra” that allows for faster lap times? The newly developed Manthey Kit for the sportscar mentioned above could be the answer. And another lap time at the “Green Hell” supports that claim – the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS with the Manthey Kit completed the same circuit in 7 minutes and 3.121 seconds. That’s precisely 6.179 seconds quicker. Both track times were done on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres.

Do note that the Manthey Kit does not affect the powerplant. The 4.0-litre six-cylinder heart still produces 493hp/450Nm, enough to deliver a 0-100kmph sprint time of less than 3.5 seconds. And the transmission duties are handled by a 7-speed PDK.

What the new optional extra, which was designed specifically for track day use, does is introduce modifications to the chassis and aerodynamics. For the latter, the Manthey Kit ropes in new flaps and air curtains with a wheel arch Gurney flap and a new carbon underbody with diffusers to increase downforce at the front. For the rear end, the hike in downforce comes courtesy of an 85mm larger wing featuring a new wing blade and larger endplates. That also has four-stage adjustability. And the rear engine cover has been reinforced with a carbon-weave finish, something that will aid to withstand higher aerodynamic forces. The aerodiscs on the rear wheels are made of CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic) and play a part in improving rear-end stability. These can be decorated with a film for an extra fee.

Coming to the mechanical changes, the Manthey Kit brings in a new, four-stage adjustable coilover suspension for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS. The fitment increases spring rates at the front by 20 per cent. Besides that, the chassis is available in two versions – for cars with and without a front lift system. By default, the kit comes with steel brake lines. However, Porsche will fit racing brake pads for an extra fee. The list of optional extras also includes CFRP rear spoiler, towing loops and wheel arch vents with a carbon-weave finish in the front wings. And for that extra lunacy, illuminated door sill guards with the Manthey logo are available.

The Manthey Kit will be sold by Porsche Centres globally. Its European launch is scheduled for December 2023, with other markets to follow closely. And just in case you’re wondering, equipping the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS with the Manthey Kit will not affect the manufacturer’s warranty.
