Prices For Maruti Suzuki Fronx Are Out

The sub-4 metre crossover is available with two engine and transmission options each.

Unveiled to the world at this year’s Auto Expo in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx finally gets a price list. It starts at INR 7.47 lakh and goes up to INR 13.14 lakh, and between those two figures are ten other variants. In other words, buyers can choose amongst twelve derivatives covering two engine and transmission options. Here’s the complete price list:

The Baleno-based crossover starts with the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 89hp/113Nm. The naturally aspirated mill is available with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). However, those looking for a bit more punch in the mix can opt for the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor. The ‘Boosterjet’ outputs 99hp/148Nm, and can be coupled with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic (torque converter).

As far as the features list is concerned, it is pretty impressive. It includes a head-up display, 16-inch alloy wheels, a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree camera, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 6-speaker sound system. Other features, such as a wireless mobile charger, cruise control, tilt & telescopic adjustments for the steering wheel, Suzuki Connect (connected-car tech), automatic climate control, auto-folding ORVMs and push-button start/stop, are also available.

Maruti Suzuki offers the Fronx in nine colours, three of which are dual-tone finishes – black roofs with red, brown and silver body colours. And since it retails from the Nexa range of dealerships, the Nexa Blue shade is also part of the portfolio.

In profile, the Fronx is a hunkered-up alternative to the donor model – the Baleno. But, more importantly, it introduces the SUV-coupe recipe in a price bracket where models like the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite reside. In fact, it also tries to take the game to other sub-4 metre SUVs, such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and its sibling – the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
