Updated Tigor EV Launched With More Range And Features

The powertrain specs remain unaltered.

Further bolstering its EV portfolio, Tata Motors has updated the pure-electric Tigor. The list of changes includes a new price list (of course!), added features, a higher claimed range and an enhanced standard equipment package. Also, the model is no longer called Tigor EV. Instead, Tata Motors calls it Tigor.ev, following the naming nomenclature of the all-electric Tiago (Tiago.ev). Okay, here’s the price list:

• XE – INR 12.49 Lakh

• XT – INR 12.99 Lakh

• XZ+ – INR 13.49 Lakh

• XZ+ Lux – INR 13.75 Lakh

The first thing you notice is the new colour option. It’s called Magnetic Red. But if you don’t like it, the EV is also available in Signature Teal Blue and Daytona Grey. Next, the range. Tata Motors says that the Tigor.ev can travel up to 315km on a single charge. That’s 9km more than before, and it’s ARAI-certified. The automaker squeezed out these extra kilometres by refining the powertrain, which in specifications remains unaltered. The Tigor.ev features a single, front-mounted electric motor that offers 74hp/170Nm, and gets its juices from a 26kWh battery.

As mentioned above, the standard equipment list has been improved. It now includes Multi-mode Regen, connected-car tech via the ZConnect platform, smartwatch connectivity, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a tyre puncture repair kit. Automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver’s seat and tilt-adjustable steering, are also features from the same list. The updated Tigor.ev is also available with leatherette upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps and cruise control.

So, one might wonder, what about the existing owners? Well, Tata Motors is extending a free-of-charge feature update to them, via a software update. Also, the customers can get their electric Tigor EVs upgraded with Multi-Mode Regen, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a tyre puncture repair kit. Owners of XZ+ and XZ+ Dual Tone variants can also get smartwatch connectivity compatibility. However, all these upgrades and updates will start on December 20, 2022, and customers can get them by visiting any Tata Motors’ authorised service centre.

The Tigor.ev has no direct competition like the Tiago.ev and Nexon EV have none in their respective segments. As a result, Tata Motors is presently the undisputed king in the private electric car space.
