Chelsea-Arsenal : the Gunners take the 3 points at Stamford Bridge !

One of London’s most famous derbies opened this Super Sunday in the Premier League. At the end of a rough and tumble match, Mikel Arteta’s men took all three points at Stamford Bridge. They are now back in the lead, while Chelsea are now four league games without a win.

Gunners in controle against inoffensive Blues

Mikel Arteta’s troops were in control of the game this afternoon, just as they were in the final minutes of injury time in the London rain. From possession to shots, everything was better for the red and white side. But the Gunners had to wait until the 63rd minute to unlock their counter-attack : Gabriel Jesus found his way into the opposition’s box, shot at the near post, Mendy imposed himself and conceded the corner. Odegaard took it and brushed a vicious ball under everyone’s nose, then Gabriel Magalhaes blasted it under the bar to the delight of his fans, who were right behind the goal. Arteta’s players were never really worried by the Blues. Only in the last quarter of an hour did Chelsea seem to wake up : Potter’s men twice broke down the right flank before forcing the Arsenal centre-backs to make saves in their own area. And it was the same in the first half. Both teams had few chances, thanks in large part to some particularly good defenders on each side. Whether it was Thiago Silva for Chelsea, or Saliba, one of the best Gunners today. In parallel, the domination is North London with some possession phases in the opponent’s half. And this despite the rough nature of the match, due to the strong commitment on the field and the fouls that ensued.

With this 11th victory of the season, Arsenal remain at the top of the Premier League with a two-point lead over Manchester City, who won his yesterday’s match against Fulham in the final seconds thanks to Erling Haaland’s penalty.
