Emirates To Restart Daily Service To Nigeria

Dubai-based carrier Emirates has announced that daily flights to Lagos, Nigeria, will restart on October 1, 2024. The service will be offered on a Boeing 777-300ER, configured with 8 First Class suites, 42 Business Class seats, and 304 Economy seats.

The outbound flight – EK783 – will leave Dubai at 09:45 and arrive in Lagos at 15:20. The return service – EK784 – will depart from Lagos at 17:30 and land in Dubai at 05:10 the next day. Tickets for this route are available via travel agents and, of course, through the carrier’s official website.

Once the Dubai-Lagos route is live, Emirates will have 19 gateways in Africa. It will have 157 weekly flights to Africa from its hub in Dubai, with an additional 130 regional destinations in the continent through codeshare and interline partnerships with South African Airways, Airlink, Royal Air Maroc, Tunis Air and others. Also, the daily Dubai-Lagos service will boost Emirates SkyCargo’s offering with over 300 tonnes of weekly bellyhold cargo capacity.

New-Gen Bentley Continental GT Debuts Next Month

It’s been only a few days since Bentley confirmed a few juicy details about what will replace its iconic W12. The Brits have now confirmed the new powertrain’s first project – the fourth-generation Bentley Continental GT. And it isn’t far from shedding its cover, as you can see here. In fact, we’ll get to see it in full next month.

As you’d expect, not much has been unveiled as of now. But we know the “Ultra Performance Hybrid” powerplant will deliver a whopping 782ps of power and a mammoth peak torque of 1,000Nm. Courtesy of the electric motor and a battery to back it up, the new-gen Continental GT will also be capable of travelling 80km with zero local emissions. Another astonishing figure for the brand is a WLTP-certified CO2 figure of less than 50 g/km.

Backing up the new powertrain and its massive power reserves will be an active all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring, four-wheel steering, an electronic limited-slip differential, 48V electric active anti-roll control and new dual-valve dampers. Of course, new design and a variety of modern-day creature comforts will also play their part. Put all those facts together, and the takeaway is this: the new-gen Bentley Continental GT will be the most powerful, dynamically capable and sustainable luxury grand tourer in the company’s history.

Exciting times ahead!

easyJet Announces Its New UK Base

British low-cost carrier easyJet is set to expand its UK operations further with the launch of its tenth base. Come March next year, a three-aircraft (186-seat Airbus A320neo) base will be operational at London Southend. The airline says the new base will create approximately 130 direct jobs for pilots and crew in the country and bolster several more indirect employment.

The UK is easyJet’s largest market, with over 56 per cent of its passengers flying in or out from UK airports. Once the new base at London Southend goes live, the airline will boost its annual seating capacity to 57 million, amounting to a 10 per cent increase over last year. The airline has launched 70 new routes from its home country, with many being served from its base at Birmingham International Airport. That base was launched in March this year.

From the London Southend, easyJet already flies to many international destinations, such as Amsterdam, Geneva, Faro, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga, and Paris CDG. Adding extra aircraft will enable the carrier to launch six new routes to Pisa, Gran Canaria, Dalaman, Antalya, Marrakech and Enfidha. Flights will go on sale later this year. However, the easyJet holiday packages go on sale tomorrow with departures from May 1, 2025.
