Zero Celebrates 20 Years with Limited-Edition SR/F Electric Motorcycle

Zero Motorcycles celebrates 20 years with the limited-edition SR/F electric motorcycle, featuring exclusive black-and-gold styling and only 40 units worldwide.

What is the Zero SR/F 20th Anniversary Edition?

The Zero SR/F 20th Anniversary Edition is a limited-production electric street motorcycle commissioned by American electric motorcycle maker Zero to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary. The 20th anniversary edition model is based on the brand’s flagship naked-bike platform featuring exclusive black-and-gold styling, premium components and anniversary-specific detailing.

The 20th Anniversary special edition targets collectors and enthusiasts looking for a touch of exclusivity on the standard platform. Zero motorcycle is limited to just 40 units worldwide. Of these, 20 units are intended for North America and another 20 will be offered through participating dealers in Europe.

The Zero SR/F is an electric motorcycle modelled as a streetfighter, offering an upright riding position, exposed mechanical styling and a sporty chassis engineered for agile dynamics for Urban use.

What is Zero?

Zero Motorcycles is an American company known for manufacturing electric motorcycles and powertrains for electric mobility using its proprietary Z -Force electric powertrain and lightweight aluminium frames. The company was founded in 2006 in Santa Cruz, California.

Since its inception, the brand has amassed an impressive product portfolio ranging from lightweight electric off-road bikes to street motorcycles; the list includes the SR/F and SR/S, the DSR/X adventure bike, X Line models and the LS1 electric scooter.

What does the anniversary edition look like?

The most noticeable change compared to the standard  SR/F model is the introduction of the Jet Black-and-gold colour scheme. The dark bodywork is contrasted by gold graphics and highlights, giving the motorcycle a premium appearance.

The SR/F 20th Anniversary Edition also features several blacked-out components. These include the aluminium flyscreen, headlight wings, grab rails, brake pedal, dust covers, smoked turn indicators, swingarm bobbins and TechSpec tank protectors.

The special edition motorcycle also features carbon-fibre front and rear mudguards. It also comes equipped with loads of billet aluminium parts such as billet mirrors, billet bar ends, billet brake components, reservoir caps and a brake lever protector.

Does it use a new electric motor?

No. The Zero SR/F 20th Anniversary Edition uses the same basic electric powertrain as the performance-focused SR/F. Its motor produces 83kW of peak power and 190Nm of torque. The standard SR/F was quoted to reach a top speed of up to 200 km/h; expect the special edition to hold the same.

What is the charging time?

The SR/F 20th Anniversary Edition is equipped with a 6.6kW onboard charger. Zero states that the motorcycle can charge from 20 to 80 per cent in approximately 1.4 hours using a Level 2 charging connection. Zero also offers an optional rapid charger, which charges the battery from 20 to 80% within 45 minutes. The motorcycle’s claimed urban range is up to 283km.

What type of suspension does the Zero SR/F 20th Anniversary Edition use?

The Zero SR/F 20th Anniversary Edition uses fully adjustable Showa suspension at both ends. It features 43mm Showa Big Piston Separate Function forks at the front and a Showa piggyback-reservoir monoshock at the rear. Both units allow riders to adjust spring preload, compression damping and rebound damping.

What features does it offer?

The Zero SR/F 20th Anniversary Edition retains the SR/F’s electric performance and electronic rider aids, which are operated via the Cypher operating system, which manages several motorcycle functions and allows the rider to access different riding modes and performance settings. The motorcycle comes with Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control, which aids in keeping the motorcycle stable during heavy acceleration or braking.
