Watches and Wonders returns to Shanghai
The world’s preeminent watch show will exhibit in Shanghai, China, for the fourth time. It will be held from August 28 to September 1, 2024.
Shanghai, located on China’s east coast, is considered a masterpiece of the Chinese economy and is among the major economic centres in the world. For the fourth time, it has been chosen to host the “Chinese leg of Watches and Wonders.” Watches and Wonders Shanghai will be held at the West Bund Art Center from August 28 to September 1, 2024. The first two days will be kept for professionals and then open to the public from August 30 until September 1 (Friday to Sunday).
The Watches and Wonders Shanghai 2024 program will cater to all levels of collectors, those new to horology as well as horology enthusiasts and experienced collectors. The show will provide “an opportunity for the visitors to enjoy a unique, immersive experience in the watchmaking of today and tomorrow.” It will include conferences, talks, panel discussions, introductory workshops on various aspects of horology, presentation of new timepieces, trade demonstrations and a photo exhibition. The LAB, a newly proposed area at the Salon, will highlight innovation and invention.

Nowadays, watch brands prefer to reveal their new timepieces over the course of the year. We again noticed this trend after Watches and Wonders Geneva, held recently during April 9 – April 15, 2024. A few brands have begun launching timepieces after the show. Watches and Wonders Shanghai suits this trend perfectly. In addition to providing an immersive horology experience in a key market, it is an excellent opportunity for exhibiting brands to unveil new timepieces, whether for the global market or region-specific limited editions.
