VW India Reveals Prices Of New Taigun And Virtus Variants

Bookings for the GT Edge Limited Edition derivatives will only be accepted online.

Back in April this year, Volkswagen India showcased new variants of its five-star duo – the Taigun and Virtus. Prices of those derivatives have now been unveiled, along with the delivery timelines and other details. Here’s the complete price list:

Let’s decipher the ‘New Variants’ first. Virtus’ GT Plus MT variant undercuts the GT Plus DSG derivative by a whopping INR 1.67 lakh. And while the dearer of the two is a great all-rounder, the new addition will surely attract those who like complete control of the gear shifts. Those kinds are usually labelled as “keen drivers”. The same holds for Taigun’s GT Plus MT derivative, which costs INR 1.26 lakh less than the GT Plus DSG iteration. However, those who can do without a few features but need the TSI-DSG combo in the compact SUV can settle for the GT trim. That switch can save INR 2.26 lakh on the ex-showroom price.

Over to the ‘GT Edge Limited Edition’. Volkswagen India will only accept online bookings for these unique versions. Why? That’s because they will be produced after it receives orders from customers. The ‘GT Edge Limited Edition’ derivatives are based on the range-topping GT Plus trim level, meaning they pack all the bells and whistles along with some added flamboyance. The main highlight is, of course, the exclusive colour options. Both models are available in the ‘Deep Black Pearl’ shade, choosing which will cost about INR 20,000 over the standard variants. However, the Carbon Steel Grey Matte paint on the Taigun costs an additional INR 20,000, equating to an INR 40,000 premium over the non-Edge Limited Edition variants.

As you’d expect, there are no changes in the features list and the mechanicals. Also, Volkswagen India confirms deliveries of the GT Edge Limited Edition derivatives will commence in July 2023. Personally, the ‘Deep Black Pearl’ paint option has left me floored. How about you?
