Venezianico unveils a new watch, the beautiful Nereide Aureo
The Nereide Aureo’s 24-carat gold treated dial is a homage to ancient Venetian craftsmanship.

Venezianico, the Venice, Italy based timepiece brand has unveiled the Nereide Aureo, a 42mm diver that features a special dial treated in 24K gold, which evokes techniques and methods from ancient times. The Nereide Aureo is part of Venezianico’s Nereide collection.
“Gold has always been at the heart of Venetian craftsmanship, symbolizing the wealth and magnificence of the Serenissima Republic. The goldsmithing tradition in Venice has ancient roots, dating back to the Byzantine period when the city became a center of refined artistic production. Skilled artisans created extraordinary works using techniques passed down through generations, as evidenced by the gilded details of the Basilica of San Marco. This mastery in the use of gold not only adorned Venetian churches and palaces but also the artifacts that represented the power and grandeur of the Serenissima.”

The Nereide Aureo’s dial features include:
– Its dial features “a pure 24K gold treatment and a rippled finish, evokes the ancient Venetian art of lamination.”
– The hour, minute, and small rectangular tip towards the end of the second hand are coated with BGW9 SuperLuminowa®.
– 12 hour-markers (2 for 12 o’clock) and a minute track, graduated in increments of 5 minutes, encircle the outer dial.

– “VENEZIANICO” and the brand’s logo is displayed on the top portion of the dial, and “NEREIDE AUREO” on lower portion of the dial.

The Nereide Aureo’s case features include:
– Its case is made of 316L stainless steel.
– Its bezel, with a 60-minute scale, features a tungsten insert and 120 clicks.
– It has a case diameter of 42 mm.
– Its lug-to-lug width is 49 mm.
– On its dial side it features a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.
– Its caseback, screwed to the case, features an engraving of the main nave of the Basilica of San Marco. “This building is renowned for its walls adorned with gold leaf, a symbol of the exquisite art of Venetian gold beaters The engraving on the case back not only strengthens the model’s connection to our homeland but also celebrates Venice’s rich artisanal tradition.”
– Standard timepiece text in Italian encircles the caseback engraving.
– The crown at 3 o’clock is protected by a crown guard.
– It is water resistant up to 20 ATM or 200 metres.
Bracelet
The Nereide Aureo’s bracelet features include:
– It is the first Venezianico timepiece to feature their new Sansovino bracelet. It is “inspired by the works of Renaissance sculptor Jacopo Sansovino, renowned for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.”
– It features five links, two polished and three satin-finished, offering “a perfect balance of elegance and robustness.”
– The Sansovino bracelet features a double finished and micro-adjustable solid clasp. It “ensures a comfortable and secure fit, ideal for diving enthusiasts.”
– The Nereide Aureo can also be ordered with Venezianico’s Canova stainless-steel bracelet, whose “alternates concave and convex elements, combines iconic lines with practicality.”
Movement
The Nereide Aureo’s movement features include:
– It is powered by Sellita SW200-1, a mechanical Swiss Made automatic calibre.
– It powers the hours, minutes, seconds, and date.
– As per online sources, this calibre beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph or 4 Hz, has 26 jewels, and features a shock protection device, hacking seconds and quick set date.
– It is a proven, dependable, and robust movement, easily serviceable by a competent watchmaker worldwide.
Our Thoughts
Last month I wrote about Venezianico’s Redentore Bellanotte, a timepiece whose dial execution left me speechless. Venezianico has done it again with the Nereide Aureo. Creating a dial using techniques that pays tribute to ancient Venetian craftsmanship shows the brand’s original and innovative thinking. Alberto and Alessandro Morelli, owners of Venzianico, and their entire team, must be commended for the work they are doing.
With its gorgeous 24K gold-treated dial, and abundance of details such as its bezel, engraving on its caseback, and newly developed Sansovino bracelet, make the Nereide Aureo among the most elegant and fashionable divers on the market today. We cannot wait to see it in the flesh and do a hands-on review.
