The BMW Z4 (G29) marks a delightful return to its roots as a classic roadster, especially with its soft top. The M40i model, already a fan favourite, boasts an impressive 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque right from the factory, promising an exhilarating open-air driving experience. But for those craving even more excitement, the BMW specialists at dAHLer Competition Line have unleashed a comprehensive enhancement package.
Based in Switzerland, Christoph Dähler and his team have developed extensive technical and visual upgrades for the Z4 G29. These enhancements are available for both the 8-speed automatic and the recently introduced 6-speed manual transmission variants.
The core of dAHLer’s offerings is the “powered by dAHLer” performance upgrade, available in three stages. Stage 1 boosts the M40i’s turbocharged 3.0-litre B58 engine to a stout 408 hp and 610 Nm. For even more punch, Stage 2 takes it up to 430 hp and 630 Nm. Both of these stages come with EU/CH homologation and meet Euro 6d-Temp emissions standards. Crucially, for vehicles built before June 2020, the top speed limiter is removed. The ultimate Stage 3 upgrade pushes the limits even further, delivering 455 hp and 650 Nm, with the Vmax limit removed for all model years. To complement these power gains, dAHLer also offers a sports air filter, a carbon air intake, and a “built by dAHLer” stainless steel exhaust system. This exhaust can be optioned with bi-valve control and features stylish, matte black ceramic-coated twin tailpipes in either 90mm or 100mm diameters.
To sharpen the driving dynamics and give the Z4 a more aggressive stance, dAHLer provides excellent suspension upgrades. You can choose from “built by dAHLer” sports springs, which lower the Z4 by 25 millimetres at the front and 20 millimetres at the rear. For ultimate adjustability, the “built by dAHLer” performance coilover suspension allows for both height and damping adjustments.
Visually, the in-house dAHLer alloy wheels are a standout feature. Their dynamic, sophisticated double-spoke CDC2 forged wheels are a perfect match for BMW’s M models and come in 20-inch or 21-inch combinations. The classic CDC1 design is also available in 20-inch (forged or cast) or 21-inch (cast only) options.
To further emphasize the Z4’s sporty look, you can add a carbon front spoiler lip, M-look mirror caps, and an optional rear spoiler. All these components are made from carbon fibre as standard and can be finished in a clear coat or painted to match your car. Finally, dAHLer offers interior touches like an aluminium pedal set and custom dAHLer floor mats to complete the bespoke feel.
