Fifty years after the last Jaguar E‑type was made, Jaguar Classic has created two exclusive Series I E‑type Commemorative models for a Southeast Asian client. These unique cars honour key moments in E‑type history, from the blueprint of its inception to the last Series III models featuring bespoke details that showcase Jaguar Classic’s craftsmanship. Every detail – inside and out – receives the careful attention of the dedicated Jaguar Classic experts, with upgrades meticulously put together in more than 2,000 hours.
Powertrain: 3.8-litre engine w/ 5-speed gearbox
Powered by the classic 3.8-litre engine with electronic fuel injection and a Jaguar Classic 5-speed gearbox, these vehicles blend vintage charm with modern touches like Bluetooth and a heated windscreen, making them timeless collector’s items. Although exact performance figures haven’t been published, we presume it may match or better those of the 3.8-litre from the early 60s which used to produce 265 hp and 325 Nm of torque, enough to get the driver from 0 to 100 km/h in a spritely 6.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 241 km/h.
Exterior & Interior: Green & black paintwork;Â mother of pearl, sterling silver & 18ct gold embellishments
The models, inspired by the 1974 Commemorative Editions, are one-of-a-kind drophead coupes: one in Signet Green, the other in Opal Black. Each has a hand-built, highly detailed interior with Bridge of Weir tan leather seats, black-and-tan woven leather trim, and bespoke anodised aluminum elements like a center console engraved with an early Series I blueprint.
Deakin & Francis, a renowned jeweller, which has been crafting masterpieces over seven generations, since its inception in 1786, have help embellish these commemorative models with jewelry, including mother of pearl, solid silver, and 18ct gold details. At the front, the motif bar badge is finished in silver with guilloche mother of pearl and an 18ct gold Growler icon, while at the rear, badges are enamelled sterling silver.
Inside, the steering wheel horn push is finished in silver with an 18ct Growler badge and mother of pearl inlay, while a sterling silver gear knob with mother of pearl and 18ct gold Growler detail provides decadent tactility. It also has instrument panel switches, which are finished in knurled silver with a hallmarked silver bezel and a key cover, finished in silver with matching mother of pearl and 18ct gold.
