For those seeking a practical, compact and frugal seven-seater, you might consider Toyota’s latest offering in the UAE. It’s called the Veloz, and besides looking quite sharp, it promises a practical package along with impressive mileage. More on that in a bit. First, the price. The Toyota Veloz is presently available in one GX variant, which costs AED 79,900.
The Toyota Veloz comes with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that puts out 105hp/138Nm. Coupled with it is a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), which harnesses and feeds the oomph to the front wheels only. According to the Japanese carmaker, the Veloz can deliver up to 19.3kmpl. Considering that the wagon is nearly 4.5 metres in length and has an upright stance, the claimed mileage is impressive.
The features list? That’s impressive too, with stuff like multiple driving modes (Eco, Normal, Power), 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, auto-folding ORVMs, automatic climate control, push-button start and reclining rear seats. Other gizmos, such as LED interior lights, a 7.0-inch TFT MID, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless mobile charger, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 6-speaker sound system, are also included.
Of course, there are a bunch of safety features available. That list includes rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, six airbags, ABS, Vehicle Stability Control, ISOFIX anchorages for child booster seats, Hill Start Assist, Electric Parking Brake and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The Toyota Veloz is up for grabs in six colours, which include two shades of silver, and one each of red, black, grey and white. Indoors, the upholstery comes in a combination of leather and fabric. And to boost practicality, the Veloz comes with foldable second and third-row seats.
So, there you have it. The Toyota Veloz does seem to be quite a package for the price. Do you think there’s a better alternative that offers this much space in the same price bracket?
