Toyota teases the all-new Prius ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show

The iconic hybrid model will be presented on 16 November

Together with the Honda Insight, the Toyota Prius was one of the first hybrid cars to be marketed to the general public. Today, however, it faces considerable competition, as almost all brands now offer hybrid models in a variety of forms. As a result, the Prius no longer has a monopoly on hybrid technology.

This fact will not prevent Toyota from presenting a sixth generation of its sedan on November 16 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. As was the case with the five previous iterations, the new Prius should take on a very original style to distinguish itself from the crowd. The few teasers released by the brand show angular headlights largely inspired by those of the bZ3 electric sedan.

The silhouette of the car will remain very fluid with a low and particularly sloping roofline for optimal aerodynamics. The rear should also feature large horizontal taillights on top of the boot lid. Many original gimmicks are expected on this Prius, which will use more protruding edges than the current model.

On board, the new Prius will make a generational leap with much larger screens on a completely redesigned dashboard. The instrument panel could be moved back to face the driver and no longer be located in the middle. Instead, a huge portrait screen will be used for infotainment. The Prius will update its technological offering to bring it up to the level of the competition.

On the technical side, the newcomer will of course rely on a combustion engine combined with an electric motor and a small battery that will allow it to run for a few kilometers without emissions. The whole thing should be improved to make it even more efficient. There are rumors of a new hydrogen-electric hybrid duo planned for 2025 to reinforce the Prius offer. However, there are no plans for a fully electric version.
