Toyota Launches New Innova In The UAE

It’s available exclusively as a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV).

Toyota has introduced the new Innova with its authorised dealer partner for the UAE, Al-Futtaim. Prices for the three-row people haulier start at AED 126,900. Currently, the MPV is available in a single eight-seater form with a strong-hybrid powerplant under the bonnet.

The new Toyota Innova packs a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, good for 150hp/188Nm, and two electric motors, jointly producing 111hp/206Nm. The Japanese carmaker claims a total system output of 184hp, harnessed and fed to the front wheels by an electronically-controlled Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT). The setup can deliver a mileage of up to 23.7kmpl, which is impressive.

One could drive the new Toyota Innova on electric power alone, ensuring zero tailpipe emissions. The two electric motors in the mix feed from a nickel metal hydride battery, replenishing itself via the regenerative braking technology or the petrol engine. Besides the EV driving mode, the vehicle comes with three others – Normal, Eco and Power.

The UAE-spec Toyota Innova rides on 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 215/60 profile tyres. Another such stat that people will be interested in is the cargo capacity. With the third row of seats stowed, the new Toyota Innova can gulp 991 litres of stuff.

The features list is pretty extensive for a car of this size and price. It includes automatic climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, a 6-speaker sound system, LED headlamps and powered ORVMs. The new Toyota Innova also has various safety features, including rear fog lamps, a rear defogger, an electronic parking brake, a tyre pressure monitoring system, Hill Start Assist and an emergency call system.
