Oris has unveiled the Orix x Cervo Volante, a watch based on the Big Crown Pointer Date.
“Cervo Volante has become one of our most valued partners, producing straps and accessories for us made from its sustainably sourced and tanned deer leather. Every year, the Swiss authorities oversee a carefully managed programme of deer population control, a process intended to protect the Alpine forests that are vital to Switzerland’s ecosystem. This creates a volume of waste skins that Cervo Volante turns into beautiful products, each retaining the natural imperfections found in the leather that would prompt many companies to discard it.”

Functions and Operation
Central hours, minutes, seconds, and instantaneous date. Stop-seconds function. Crown at 3 o’clock for winding, time-and date setting.
Dial
Burnt maple coloured gradient dial. Arabic numerals, hour-markers, and hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova.
Movement
Powered by Oris calibre 754-1, a Sellita based automatic movement that drives the hours, minutes, seconds, instantaneous date, and stop-seconds function. Diameter: 25.60 mm or 11 ½ lignes. Jewels: 26. Frequency 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 41 hours.
Case and Strap
Multi-piece case is made from stainless steel. Diameter: 40 mm. Thickness: 12.2 mm. Lug width: 20 mm. Lug to lug distance: 48.20 mm. Dial side features a sapphire crystal, domed on both sides, with anti-reflective coating on the inside. Stainless steel caseback is screwed to the main case and features a mineral glass. Water resistant up to 5 bar.
Watch comes with a mahogany brown coloured Cervo Volante strap made from sustainable deer leather. It features the brand’s quick strap change system.
