The coach-built Morgan Supersport comes with a new shape and technology

Taking an old thing and making it new is exactly what Morgan has done with their classic shape

Seeing a Morgan on the street is like looking at a grandfather clock on wheels. Its shape is reminiscent of Victorian yachts and bowler hats. While I’m being facetious about these descriptions, Morgan has continued to produce a classic shape for many years now. That is until now, when they’ve successfully taken something old and made it new and exciting. Enter in the 2025 Morgan Supersport.

They’ve carefully considered their classic shape yet let the engineers go a bit wild with making sure this new Supersport is the best in performance and technology from them yet. Looking at it, it appears they know the primary function of their cars is to provide joy for those who own them. They’ve even coined a tagline: “A sports car for people who love driving.” I love that. You should too.

The bespoke and coach-built body is firmly seated on their new ‘CXV’ aluminum platform. This platform is said to prioritize engagement and enjoyment over the pursuit of lap times and horsepower. That’s either an ethos we’re going to love or an excuse for you when you’re at the track and someone says, ‘I thought that thing would be quicker’.

Powered by the beloved 335hp BMW B58 TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder and mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters, they’ve picked a powertrain meant for success. This is the continuation of a 25-year partnership they’ve had with BMW, first with their Aero 8 in the year 2000. The ‘CXV’ platform they’ve set the powertrain on weighs a mere 102kg (224 pounds) and is 10% more rigid than the former ‘CX’ platform. It even gets another 10% more rigid with a hardtop, meaning without a roof, the car is still very solid. Steering was enhanced and is 13% quicker.

Having two seats and a small profile means this Morgan is light. We’re talking 1170kg (2579 pounds). Read that again. It weighs just slightly more than a Mazda Miata and that’s usually the modern benchmark for featherweights. This makes 0-62 mph come in a mere 3.9 seconds and with the weight you’ll get 36.8 mpg (7.7l/100km).

Do I need to remind you that this is not a piece of disposable plastic with some wheels? This is a luxury car with a retro vibe. That extra weight is thanks to Sennheiser Audio, adaptive exhaust, interior wood paneling, a luggage rack, and as much luxury fabric as you can throw at it from your wildest dreams.

The best part of the Supersport is that it will be available worldwide. Go to their site now and see for yourself. They’ve got a dealer network to support all of us! Pricing starts at approximately $110,000 USD (85,000 GBP).

Cheers!
