A couple of days ago, Tesla launched its most affordable vehicle in the UAE – the Tesla Model 3 Standard. And now, the UAE market witnesses the debut of a performance-oriented iteration of one of Tesla’s best-selling cars – the new Tesla Model Y Performance. With the addition of the new Performance All Wheel Drive trim, the Tesla Model Y can now be had in four trim levels with the base Rear Wheel Drive trim starting at AED 174,990.
What’s new in the new Tesla Model Y Performance?
The Model Y Performance boasts new exterior design elements comprising a specific front and rear fascia – upgraded for high-speed performance, new 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 staggered forged wheels with aero wheel covers for improved efficiency, Performance red brake callipers and a new Performance badge on the liftgate. The spoiler now receives carbon-fibre treatment for enhanced high-speed stability.
Inside the cabin, the Model Y Performance benefits from aluminum pedals, carbon-fiber dash and door trim inserts, front row Performance seats with powered thigh cushion extenders and glossy black finishes on front fascia, rear fascia and mirror caps.
In terms of technology, the new Model Y boasts an all-new 16-inch touchscreen with thinner bezels and a higher resolution. In addition to these, the new Tesla Y Performance continues to be equipped with premium features comprising a panoramic glass roof, an 8” rear touchscreen, power-reclining second-row seats and Autopilot systems as standard.
What are the specifications of the new Tesla Model Y Performance?
The new Tesla Model Y Performance delivers 460hp to all four wheels, allowing it to hit the 0-100kph sprint in 3.5 seconds. Top speed is rated at 250kmph. The added performance comes courtesy of a drive unit that claims to offer more torque and power along with an upgraded battery pack which boasts new battery cells with higher energy density, offering more energy without adding weight.
Additional upgrades have been made to the chassis to tackle the added performance comprising new stabilizer bars and bushings resulting in a chassis that claims to feel more intuitive and responsive. New springs in the new adaptive suspension system take advantage of an all-new control algorithm expected to deliver a balanced ride.
New Tesla Model Y Performance Price in the UAE?
The new Tesla Model Y Performance is available at AED 239,990 in the UAE. The Performance trim also introduces a new Marine Blue paint with a clean metallic effect. Customer deliveries are set to debut March 2026 onwards.
