Suzuki SV-7S Unveiled at EICMA 2026 as SV650 Successor With Updated 645cc V-Twin Engine

Suzuki has unveiled the new SV-7S at EICMA 2026 as the successor to the SV650, featuring an updated 645cc V-twin engine, ride-by-wire technology, advanced rider aids, revised styling and modern connectivity features.

Japanese motorcycle maker Suzuki has unveiled the new SV-7S at EICMA 2026 in Milan. It’s an updated version of the midweight naked motorcycle poised to carry the legacy of the iconic SV650. Since its debut in 1999, the SV650 has established itself as one of Suzuki’s most recognised V-Twin midweight naked motorcycles, with its potent 645cc engine forming the foundation of the model’s identity.

The new SV-7S, developed around the theme of ‘Easy to Ride, Hard to Forget ‘, retains a similar engine architecture while introducing mechanical revisions, electronic throttle control, revised styling and modern rider aids.

What are the design highlights of the Suzuki SV-7S?

Suzuki has revised the styling of the SV-7S over its predecessor SV650, rather than a complete overhaul. It retains the naked-roadster proportions associated with the SV650; the new motorcycle receives revised bodywork and contemporary lighting elements.

Its front section is distinguished by a round LED headlight with a flat-bottom profile and a slim LED position light running across its centre. The motorcycle also features LED indicators, a redesigned fuel tank, sculpted side panels and a compact rear section.

What engine powers the new Suzuki SV-7S?

The Suzuki SV-7S is powered by a 645cc, liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin engine with a double overhead camshaft (DOHC) configuration. The engine produces 72 hp at 8,500rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 6,800rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and features electronic throttle control.

Although the engine retains the fundamental architecture of the SV650, Suzuki has introduced several mechanical updates. These include revised intake components, an updated airbox, electronic throttle bodies, optimised fuel injectors, dual-spark iridium spark plugs, revised transmission gears and a new magneto. The exhaust system also features a 2-into-1 configuration.

What chassis, suspension and braking hardware does the Suzuki SV-7S get?

The Suzuki SV-7S uses a tubular steel trellis frame paired with a tubular swingarm, designed to have a narrow footprint typical of a naked roadster while offering stable and agile riding dynamics for everyday use.

Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm telescopic front fork offering 125mm of wheel travel. At the rear, the motorcycle receives a link-type monoshock with seven-step spring preload adjustment.

Braking hardware consists of twin 290mm front discs with four-piston callipers and a 240mm rear disc. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is included as standard. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch, 10-spoke cast aluminium wheels fitted with Dunlop Roadsmart III tyres.

What electronic features and riding modes does the Suzuki SV-7S offer?

To modernise the SV-7S, Suzuki has introduced the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) to the SV platform, bringing several electronic rider assistance features. Its equipment includes the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), which offers three power delivery modes, and the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), with three intervention levels and an off setting.

The modern midweight naked roadster also features ride-by-wire electronic throttle control and a bidirectional quickshifter. It also comes equipped with Suzuki Easy Start System, which simplifies engine starting with a single button press, and Low RPM Assist, which helps maintain engine speed during take-offs and low-speed riding.

What instrumentation and connectivity features does the Suzuki SV-7S offer?

The Suzuki SV-7S receives a 4.2-inch full-colour TFT LCD instrument display, replacing the traditional instrument layout associated with earlier SV models. The screen presents information such as vehicle speed, engine rpm, gear position, fuel consumption, trip information, maintenance reminders and electronic system settings.

The system also offers connectivity features through Suzuki Ride Connect+, which supports turn-by-turn navigation and notifications for incoming calls, messages and calendar events. The system also provides weather and traffic information.
