Ressence Unveils The New Artistic Type 8 Daniel Engelberg

Ressence has collaborated with renown German artist Daniel Engelberg to unveil the Type 8.1 DE1 and DE2.

“Daniel Engelberg is a Munich-based sculptor and painter known for seamlessly combining elements of both disciplines in his work. Educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and Munich, he creates with a rigorous formal language and meticulous attention to craft. Engelberg mills his pieces from wood, paints them in vibrant acrylics, and seals them under glossy epoxy resin – a process that yields geometric artworks of striking depth and precision. Early inspiration from architecture and construction instilled in him a love of clean lines and structural rhythm, a sensibility that continues to inform his art.”

“This project is a true application of art to a watch. It’s an almost literal integration of an artwork into a watch dial. Here, the dial and Daniel’s painting speak the exact same graphic language, an organic geometry that feels meant to be.”Benoît Mintiens, Founder of Ressence.

Our Thoughts

Image: DE2. Art on your wrist.

Ressence watches are a superb canvas for artistic and cultural collaborations. The Type 8.1 DE1 and DE2 incorporate the signature “Inside Out” art series of renowned German artist Daniel Engelberg on the dial of a watch whose workings have more in common with engineering than conventional horology.

The Type 8.1 DE1 and DE2 combine art, unconventional horology, rarity, and an accessible price. They are compelling additions to connoisseurs of art and independent watchmaking.
