Raymond Weil highlights its “signature Freelancer collection” by unveiling two new sophisticated watches. They include the classic Freelancer Complete Calendar 40 mm, available in two versions, and the Freelancer Skeleton Cushion 40*40 mm. They are part of the brand’s new launches for Watches and Wonders, held in Geneva from April 1 until April 7.

Freelancer Complete Calendar 40 mm

Functions are central hours, minutes, and seconds; day of the week and month via apertures at 12 o’clock; and date and moon phase indicator on the subdial at 6 o’clock.
Powered by RW3281, an automatic movement that drives the above functions. Power reserve is 62 hours.
Stainless steel version with rose gold PVD coating and dune colour dial
Dune colour dial with sunburst satin finish. Hour and minute hands are tonneau shaped, feature a polished rose gold PVD finish, and coated with white Super-LumiNova. Hour markers are coated with white Super-LumiNova.
Case is made from stainless steel and features a rose gold PVD coating with a brushed and polished finish. Diameter: 40 mm. Thickness: 10.15 mm. Dial side features a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Caseback is pressed to the main case and features a sapphire crystal. The screw-down fluted crown at 3 o’clock features the brand’s logo (stamped). Water resistant up to 100 metres.

Powered by RW1212, an in-house automatic movement that drives the hours and minutes. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 41 hours.
Black colour skeleton dial. Hour and minute hands are tonneau shaped, black nickel plated and coated with white Super-LumiNova. Applied hour markers are coated with white Super-LumiNova. Movement’s balance is visible at 6 o’clock.
Cushion shaped case is made from stainless steel and features a black PVD coating. Diameter: 40 mm * 40 mm. Thickness: 10.50 mm. Dial side features a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Caseback is pressed to the main case and features a sapphire crystal. The screw-down fluted crown at 3 o’clock features the brand’s logo (stamped). Water resistant up to 100 metres.
Watch comes with a genuine black calfskin leather strap fitted to a black PVD coated ‘RW’ folding clasp with a double pusher safety feature.
Our Thoughts
Raymond Weil knows a thing or two about crafting high quality watches at (relatively) affordable prices. The Freelancer Complete Calendar 40 mm is an elegant and attractive interpretation of classical Genevan watchmaking. It is aesthetically similar to watches crafted by Genevan brands Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. A complete calendar function at this price point is simply awesome and a rarity. The Freelancer Skeleton Cushion 40&40 mm is a modern interpretation of a skeleton watch. Both are versatile watches and are perfect for collectors who desire high-quality watchmaking at affordable prices. Both could hold their own next to similar watches costing 10-20 times more. My personal favourite is the Freelancer Complete Calendar 40 mm in stainless steel with rose gold PVD coating and dune colour dial.
