Range Rover Electric Undergoes Extreme Testing: Redefining Luxury and Off-Road Prowess

Unlike traditional systems solely reliant on the ABS unit, the Range Rover Electric distributes wheel slip management directly to each individual EDU. This reduces reaction time from 100 milliseconds to a mere 1 millisecond, significantly enhancing grip and stability.

Land Rover is taking the wraps off the initial testing phase for the highly anticipated Range Rover Electric. These prototypes are undergoing a rigorous evaluation process designed to prove their mettle in the harshest environments on Earth.

Electric Power for Extreme Conditions:

The Range Rover Electric’s core components, the battery and Electric Drive Unit (EDU), are being pushed to their limits. Endurance tests are being conducted in both the frigid Arctic Circle (-40°C) and the scorching deserts of the Middle East (+50°C). This ensures the electric drivetrain can perform flawlessly regardless of climate. Notably, both the battery and EDU are built in-house by JLR, marking a first for the brand.

Unmatched Off-Road Capability, Electrified:

Land Rover is renowned for its vehicles’ exceptional off-road prowess, and the Range Rover Electric is no exception. Testing on Swedish ice lakes has revealed that the new electric propulsion system surpasses even the brand’s existing capabilities on low-traction surfaces. This ensures the Range Rover Electric maintains its legendary all-terrain, all-weather, and all-surface mastery.

Revolutionary Traction Control for Enhanced Grip:

Another innovation is the groundbreaking traction control system, a first for Range Rover. Unlike traditional systems solely reliant on the ABS unit, the Range Rover Electric distributes wheel slip management directly to each individual EDU. This reduces reaction time from 100 milliseconds to a mere 1 millisecond, significantly enhancing grip and stability.

Precise Control for Composed Refinement:

JLR’s in-house software development plays a crucial role. By enabling precise control of EDU speed, wheel slip is meticulously managed, minimizing the need for ABS intervention. This maximizes traction on all surfaces while delivering an exceptionally responsive and refined driving experience. The system seamlessly integrates with the stability control and chassis systems for unparalleled overall driving composure.

Unparalleled Capability for a New Era:

“Range Rover with electric power signifies the brand’s unwavering commitment to luxury, refinement, and capability,” comments Thomas Mueller, Executive Director of Product Engineering at JLR. “This translates into near-silent, fully electric propulsion for effortless journeys.” Land Rover’s rigorous testing program ensures the Range Rover Electric lives up to its heritage, pushing boundaries to guarantee unrivalled capability when it arrives.
