All you need to know about the new Porsche Cayenne S Electric

• The new Cayenne S Electric sits between the standard and Turbo models. • It delivers up to 490 kW (666 bhp) of power and a 653-kilometre driving range. • Advanced charging technology allows a 10 to 80 per cent charge in 16 minutes.

Where does it fit?

To start with, the new Porsche Cayenne S Electric sits at the midpoint of the current electric range. Consequently, it offers more performance than the entry-level model but remains below the flagship Turbo version. This specific positioning provides a balance of enhanced power and extensive equipment. Furthermore, it features a high-voltage battery with a 113-kWh capacity, which is shared across the entire electric Cayenne family.

How fast is it?

In terms of speed, the new Porsche Cayenne S Electric reaches 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Additionally, it has a top speed of 250 km/h and uses a dual-motor system for all-wheel drive. The system produces 400 kW (544 bhp) under normal driving conditions. However, when using Launch Control, the output rises to 490 kW (666 bhp). Meanwhile, a “Push-to-Pass” function also provides a temporary 10-second power boost of 90 kW (122 bhp) for overtaking.

What is the tech?

Regarding technology, the new Porsche Cayenne S Electric uses direct oil cooling for the rear motor to handle high loads efficiently. Moreover, it uses silicon carbide in the pulse inverter to process high currents. For the first time, features previously limited to the Turbo model are now available as options. For instance, these include active suspension to stop body roll and ceramic brakes for better stopping power. Similarly, a specific Track mode prepares the battery for high-performance driving.

How does it look?

Moving on to the design, the exterior features Volcano Grey Metallic aprons and 20-inch Aero wheels. In addition, customers can choose from thirteen different paint colours. Inside, a new “Interior Style Package” introduces a Mystic Green Metallic theme. This includes two-tone leather seats in Black and Delgada Green. Finally, touches of Izabal Green appear on the steering wheel, stopwatch, and digital displays, creating a modern look.

How does it charge?

Lastly, the new Porsche Cayenne S Electric supports fast charging at speeds up to 400 kW. Therefore, at a compatible station, the battery goes from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 16 minutes. This efficiency supports long-distance travel. Ultimately, this is complemented by a total WLTP range of up to 653 kilometres.
