Airbus has bagged a fresh order from Saudi Arabia’s new and premium international airline, Riyadh Air. Announced on the Paris Air Show 2025 opening day, the carrier placed a firm order for 25 A350-1000 widebodies. The agreement also mentions the possibility of that number increasing to 50. As a result, Riyadh Air will become the first airline in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to operate the largest commercial variant of Airbus’ A350 family.
The aircraft type promises unrivalled efficiency, range and passenger comfort. Airbus claims that the A350 is the world’s most modern and efficient widebody jet, offering the longest range of any commercial aeroplane currently on the market. According to Riyadh Air, the Airbus A350-1000 will perfectly support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which targets 300 million air passengers per annum by the end of the decade.
Like all its Airbus stablemates, the A350 can already fly with up to 50 per cent SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) in its tanks. Until May 2025, Airbus had clocked more than 1,390 firm orders from over 60 operators worldwide for the A350. Six hundred fifty-seven of them are already in service.
