NORQAIN introduces exciting new watches at Watches and Wonders Geneva

NORQAIN introduced two new watches at Watches and Wonders Geneva, held during April 1st – April 7th, 2025. They include the Wild One Skeleton 39MM, presented in four versions, and the Independence Skeleton Chrono 42MM, presented in two versions.

Mint gets a black open worked dial with mint coloured printing. Sky Blue gets a black open worked dial with sky blue coloured printings. Purple Ice Blue gets a dark purple open worked dial with ice blue coloured printings. Hyper Pink gets a black open worked dial with pink coloured printings.

Hour and minute hands are diamond-cut, faceted, and rhodium plated. Their tips are filled with X1 Super-LumiNova, the colour corresponding to the model (mint, sky, blue, ice blue, and pink.)

Second hand is diamond-cut, flat, and rhodium plated. Its tip is coated with white X1 Super-LumiNova. The colour outline of the tip corresponds to the model (mint, sky, blue, ice blue, and pink.)

The flat skeleton shaped hour-markers are diamond-cut and rhodium plated. Each is filled with X1 Super-LumiNova spots, the colour corresponding to the model (mint, sky, blue, ice blue, and pink.)

Powered by NORQAIN Calibre N08S, a mechanical automatic skeleton movement based on Sellita SW200-1S c. It drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and features stop seconds (latter according to online sources). Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Jewels: 26. Power reserve: 41 hours. Movement features a personalised winding rotor. COSC certified.

Case

Comprises of a black NORTEQ cage with a rubber shock absorber, the colour corresponding to the model (mint, sky blue, ice blue, and pink), sandblasted titanium cage and caseback. NORTEQ is a proprietary ultra-light and ultra-robust carbon fibre material. Case comprises of 25 parts. It can withstand 5000g and is 6.25 times lighter than steel and 3.5 times lighter than titanium.

Central hours and minutes. Small seconds counter at 6 o’clock. Central flyback chronograph. 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock.

Dial

Jade version gets a satin finished skeletonised jade green dial. Purple version gets a satin finished skeletonised purple dial.

Hour and minute hands are diamond-cut and faceted. Jade version’s is gun metal plated and filled with white X1 Super-LumiNova. Purple version’s is rhodium plated and filled with white X1 Super-LumiNova.

Central chronograph hand is diamond-cut and flat. Jade version’s is gun metal plated and filled with white X1 Super-LumiNova. Purple version’s is rhodium plated and filled with white X1 Super-LumiNova.

Small seconds and 30-minute counter hands are diamond cut and faceted. Jade version’s is gun metal plated. Purple version’s is rhodium plated.

Movement

Powered by NORQAIN 8K Manufacture Calibre (NK24/1), a mechanical automatic flyback chronograph movement that drives the hours, minutes, small seconds, and chronograph functions. It features a column wheel and features instant resetting and restarting of the central flyback chronograph hand. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Jewels: 31. Power reserve: 62 hours.

Movement features a unidirectional automatic winding system and a personalised 8k winding rotor and bridge inspired by mountain peaks. COSC certified.

Case

Case is made from grade 5 titanium. Jade version is black DLC coated.

Our Thoughts

Meeting with NORQAIN at their ski station inspired booth at Watches and Wonders made me see firsthand just how amazing and cool they are – both the brand and the watches. This family-owned Swiss watch brand counts industry legend Jean-Claude Biver as an advisor – not an ordinary feat. NORQAIN has a love for mountains (they are Swiss after all), and outdoor activities. They walk the talk by having relevant brand ambassadors and partnerships in football, ice hockey, tennis, skiing, and wildlife conservation.

Tobias Küffer, Vice President, and member of the family that owns the brand, personally gave me a presentation, and explained both the Wild One Skeleton 39MM and Independence Skeleton Chrono 42MM in detail to me.

NORQAIN is not “just another Swiss watch brand making relatively affordable watches.” They are defined by: Innovative materials and construction (especially the case and construction of the Wild One Skeleton 39MM).
