Nio unveils the EC7 coupe SUV
150 kWh batteries and a range of 940 km
Nio, the Chinese electric car manufacturer that wants to conquer Europe, is ending the year on a high note with the presentation of the EC7, a coupe SUV with high-end ambitions. Like the brand’s other models, the EC7 is innovative in both form and content. Aesthetically, the vehicle has flowing lines and a receding roofline for optimum aerodynamics (CX of 0.23).
Its length of 4.97 m and width of 1.97 m place it firmly in the SUV category of the E segment. The front end is in keeping with the manufacturer’s traditional style, with a full grille and two levels of lights. At the top of the windscreen are the visible cameras dedicated to semi-autonomous driving. The profile features 21-inch wheels and flush door handles.
The rear section features an LED light strip with a retractable spoiler. On board the car is a modern, uncluttered atmosphere with the essential functions grouped together on two screens. The digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel provides key driving information while the 12.8-inch central touchscreen gives access to infotainment.
Leather bucket seats are standard and can be converted into a full-fledged bunk on the passenger side with an integrated footrest. The vehicle can also be fitted with a fully configurable 16-inch colour head-up display as an option. On the technical side, the EC7 has two electric motors with a combined output of 652 hp and a 0-100 kph time of 3.8 seconds.
The batteries have capacities of 75, 100 and 150 kWh and a range of up to 940 km for the largest accumulator according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. The Nio EC7 will arrive in Europe in 2023.
