Morgan launches Super 3 Origins special edition

Each of the nine variations is limited to nine examples

Owning a Morgan Motor car by itself exhibits a passionate-towards-driving personality for the owner. And now, Morgan Motor Company allows select customers to showcase their passionate side more proudly by launching the new Super 3 Origins line-up.

The Morgan Super 3 Origins is a collection of nine unique Super 3 specifications – each limited to just nine examples. Each portrays various eras, cultures and design themes that were taken as inspiration during the formative years of the Super 3 with a unique coachbuilt body. All nine commissions are available to order now from Morgan’s global dealership network with prices starting at £47,995 (or $59,494). Every customer opting for a Super 3 Origins motor car will also receive a unique art print imagined by the same designer who created their Super 3 special unit.

Boulevard Cruiser

The Super 3 Boulevard Cruiser represents an era of pastel shades. Finished in frozen berry paintwork with chrome embellishments and aluminium side strips, this Origins special reflects on the era of the slow-motoring appeal of 1950s American automobiles along the beachfront boulevard of American coastlines. The interior gets Ivory Typhoon leather upholstery and custom ivory steering wheel to complete the look.

Bluebird

Jumping ship from slow motoring to land speed records, the Bluebird iteration takes its inspiration from the aerodynamic form of the Bluebird CN7, the gas turbine-powered land speed record car driven by Donald Campbell which clocked a world record of 403.1mph in 1964. The blue paintwork mimicked exactly the CN7’s shade, while also featuring the Bluebird emblem on the bonnet, an aluminium dashboard and a Bluebird plaque within the cabin. And for further legitimacy, Morgan has sought approval from the Campbell family to work on the special commission.

Charlie Mike

The camo-inspired exterior might’ve given off the military reconnaissance vehicle-derived inspiration on which the Charlie Mike derivative of the Super 3 is based. The Super 3 Charlie Mike, which translates to ‘Continue Mission’ is designed to encourage adventure despite adversity which explains this special getting equipped with a full range of luggage and accessory options. Similar to the khaki colour finish on the interior and exterior panels, even the rear and side-mounted luggage racks are finished in a military-inspired colour scheme with matching beige bungee cords.

Fast Forward

Designed to accentuate the technographic styles and the gaming revolution of the 1980s, the Super 3 Fast Forward is a throwback to the retro era. Morgan has gone all-out retro by incorporating digital dials on the dashboard and striking white paint with a vibrant graphical livery on the exterior.

Pickersleigh Speedshop

As the name evidently throws some hints around, the Super 3 Pickersleigh Speedshop pays nod to the belly tank racers and yard-built custom creations that emerged from local workshops in the 1950s. As a tribute to the yard-built attributes, Morgan has hand-painted the entire exterior livery overlaying a contrasting metallic silver paint on bright red.

Space Race

The 1950s captured every country’s fascination towards outer space which also ended up influencing technology and design from there onwards, including the Super 3’s design. Hence this Space Race iteration builds over the all-white paint under lacquer with a full-body livery, enhancing the leading lines and graphical treatment mimicked from the space shuttles of yesteryear.

Warp Speed

Once man stepped onto the moon, the fascination towards other-planetary transport became the subsequent aspiration. The same multiplied with the advent of sci-fi movies and to commemorate it, the Super 3 Warp Speed gets a polished aluminium cowl, roll hoop, exhaust and sideblade combination contrasted with vibrant yellow paint. The blue and red dashboard switches made regular appearances in interplanetary vehicles of sci-fi movie vehicles and the same gets mimicked on the Warp Speed as well.

Scramble the Jets

Mid-20th century acclimatized us with the jet age era, advancing travel with much greater speeds and efficiency. The jet age era also made us familiar with streamlined and sleeker designs, a feat that has been replicated in the development of the Super 3 itself. Hence, the Super 3 Scramble the Jets iteration features a two-tone dark and light grey colourway, a yellow nose cone and a red ‘bomb-release’ start switch with aviation livery across the exteriors.

Whoosh Bang Pop

The late 1950s witnessed the emergence of vibrant colours, comic strips and the pop art movement across America and the UK. To further replicate these playful narratives with impactful graphics, Morgan has applied comic book strip graphics on the aluminium body panels of the Super 3 over a two-tone Heron Grey and Belfast Blue paint combination.
