MING launches the new 37.08 Starlight

This time-only watch features a gorgeous aventurine stone dial.

MING has just launched the new 37.08 Starlight, the second in their series of “fun elemental watches.” The first was the 37.08 Sands, launched at Dubai Watch Week last November 2023.

The MING 37.08 Starlight features a gorgeous aventurine stone dial, which “resembles a clear night sky, with subtly sparkling stars over a deep blue-black base.”  Since the aventurine stone differs a lot in both colour and its metallic sparkle, MING sifted through many variants before selecting the one that best suited this timepiece. The MING 37.08 Starlight is an “unapologetically formal interpretation” of the 37 series yet remaining versatile at the same time.

Key Features

Functions and Operation

The MING 37.08 Starlight’s functions and operation include:

– Central hours and minutes.

– Manual winding via crown at 3 o’clock.

Dial and Hands

The MING 37.08 Starlight’s dial and hands include the following features:

– It features an aventurine stone dial. Since the dial is polished, an additional sapphire layer is not required to convey MING’s “signature inversion under certain angles of light.”  This enables MING to keep dial construction to the least number of layers, providing adequate metal backing for support for the delicate aventurine stone.

– Its hour and minute hands are coated with anthracite and Super-LumiNova X1 in light gold. This Super-LumiNova X1 features MING’s new lume process, a formulation which is applied in “multiple printing passes” to increase both its homogeneity and life of glow.

– On the dial side, it features HyCeram circular hour-minute markers inside the top crystal. Divided in increments of 12, with each gap between them representing an hour. At 6 o’clock it states “MING”.

Case and Bracelet

The MING 37.08 Starlight’s case and bracelet include the following features:

– Its case is made of 316L stainless steel, featuring a polished-brushed finish and a narrow bezel, “that makes the watch visually larger and thinner than dimensions suggest, whilst remaining pleasantly comfortable on the wrist.”

– It has a case diameter of 38 mm, case thickness of 10.90 mm, 44.50 mm lug-to-lug width and 20 mm lug width.

– On both its dial and caseback side, it features a domed sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating on both sides.

– It has a water resistance of 100 metres.

– It comes with MING’s 20 mm second generation Universal Bracelet made in stainless steel and featuring sculpted leaf links.

– It features a quick release feature and a hidden double butterfly clasp.

– The bracelet is compatible with any MING timepiece that features a 20 mm lug width.

Movement

The MING 37.08 Starlight is powered by mechanical hand-wound calibre Sellita for MING SW210.M1. Its features include:

– It features “anthracite skeletonized bridges with contrast rhodium circular brushing and a dark matte anthracite base.”

– It has 18 jewels.

– It beats at a frequency of 28,800 bph or 4 Hz.

– It has a power reserve of 40 hours when fully wound.

– It is visible via a sapphire caseback.
