Mexicana Orders 20 Embraer E2 Jets

Mexico’s state-owned carrier, Mexicana de Aviación, has placed a firm order for 20 single-aisle jets with Embraer. The order comprises an equal split between the 190-E2 and 195-E2 aircraft. While the former type will have a 108-seat layout, the latter will boast 132 seats. Both jets will have a single-class configuration. As far as deliveries are concerned, they will start in the second quarter of 2025.

Besides strengthening and modernising the fleet, the airline’s goal with this order is to boost efficiency and sustainability quotients. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer claims the E2-type of jets will help reduce operational costs. In fact, Mexicana de Aviación will become the first carrier in Mexico to operate an Embraer E2 jet.
