Lufthansa’s A350 To Ferry Passengers
The German airline, which is part of the Lufthansa Group, will deploy one of the latest long-haul aircraft on its Munich-Riyadh route, an Airbus A350-900. It’ll have 293 seats spread across three cabin classes.
Strengthening Presence In The Middle East
This year, Lufthansa is celebrating the 65th anniversary of its first flight to Saudi Arabia. Once the Munich-Riyadh route goes live, Lufthansa, along with its stablemates, ITA Airways and Eurowings, will be offering flights to Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah. Put together, the trio will have 22 weekly departures to Saudi Arabia. In the broader spectrum, airlines of the Lufthansa Group operate over 120 weekly flights to the region.
Riyadh: Past, Present And Future
Lufthansa’s decision to resume services to Riyadh is backed by the city’s steady growth. Surrounded by desert and considered an important stopover on the pilgrimage routes to Mecca and Medina, Riyadh has been the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the nation’s independence in 1932. In the future, Riyadh will host several major events, including the annual ‘Riyadh Season’ in winter, the World Expo in 2030, and the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 2034.
