Lucid technology will take its place in electric Aston Martins

The American brand will supply batteries and motors to the British manufacturer

The forced march towards electrification is changing the cards for the historic carmakers. While some have decided to go it alone when it comes to technology, others prefer to entrust this task to other brands. Such is the case with Aston Martin, which is teaming up with Lucid to supply the batteries and motors for its future electric cars. It’s not a clumsy choice, because despite having just one model in its catalogue, the American brand has real expertise in the field.

With its three electric motors developing 1,214 PS, its Air Sapphire sedan is one of the quickest cars in the world, all categories combined. This is the ideal partner for future Aston Martins, as CEO Lawrence Stroll confirms: “We will use all Lucid’s expertise and adapt it to create ultra-luxury, ultra-performance models that meet our expectations”.

Aston Martin, Mercedes and Lucid, the dream trio?

This happy marriage certainly does not mean that Aston Martin and Mercedes are getting divorced. This long-standing partner will continue to supply Gaydon with all its technologies, including internal combustion engines, which will not disappear from Aston Martin any time soon. Stroll confirms that “with Mercedes, we have two world leaders who can help us develop our electrification strategy”. We’ll be able to get our first glimpse of this in 2026 when the first electric Aston Martin arrives, which will be a sleek GT, as tradition dictates.
