Laurent Ferrier unveils the Classic Moon

A hand-wound annual calendar, with Laurent Ferrier’s first moonphase complication.

Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024: April 9th – April 15th, 2024.

Laurent Ferrier has unveiled the Classic Moon at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024. The Classic Moon is an annual calendar with the brand’s first ever moon phase complication. It is available in 2 versions, Classic Moon Silver, and Classic Moon Blue.

The highlight of the Classic Moon is its moonphase complication. Placed on the centre of the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, the cycles of the moon are represented by a dark blue moon disc. The design and crafting of the moon phase display is best described in Laurent Ferrier’s own words:

“First, Aventurine glass from Murano artisans is engraved to create the shape of the moon and stars with hand-applied white paint for the details. The moon and stars are then hand-filled with Super-LumiNova and fired at high temperatures. Afterwards, the Super-LumiNova is further engraved to create craters on the moon’s surface. The magnificent moon phase disc is then adorned with a translucid petrol blue enamel applique, imbuing it with an enchanting and sophisticated effect.”

Functions
