Korean Air To Make Lounges And Select Jets Better

This announcement follows the revealing of the airline’s new corporate identity.

Less than a week ago, Korean Air unveiled its new corporate identity and aircraft livery. A new Boeing 787-10 showcased the freshness in approach. The aircraft entered service on March 12, 2025, ferrying passengers between Seoul Incheon and Tokyo Narita. Now, Korea’s flag carrier has made another announcement on the same lines. It will upgrade airport lounges and introduce a Premium Economy cabin option for travellers.

Regarding the lounges, work will begin with the airline’s lounges at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2. After the upgrade, the reserved space for Korean Air travellers will be called “Prestige Class Garden Lounges” in both the east and west wings, areas added during the airport’s Phase 4 expansion. The existing Prestige Class Lounge in the east wing will double in space, while the Miler Club Lounge will also become roomier. The four lounges will open in phases starting in August this year.

The First Class Lounge and Prestige Class Lounge in the west wing are also being thoroughly overhauled. They will open for passengers in April next year. After all the upgrades, Korean Air will have six lounges operational at its home hub, Incheon, providing 2.5 times the space and twice the seating capacity.

The airline’s lounges at several major international hub airports, including Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK), will also receive the overhaul. They will feature complete redesigns and city-themed auras.

The carrier has also announced the introduction of Premium Economy seating to accommodate soaring demand. Eleven Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be retrofitted with this new cabin, and the First Class section will be sacrificed to make space. Korean Air confirms the modified jets will enter service in the second of 2025, featuring a three-class layout: Prestige (Business), Premium Economy, and Economy. The airline will expand the Premium Economy offering to more aircraft through 2026, catering to more routes worldwide.
