kollokium has unveiled the Projekt 2 (K, P–n°02) Friends, Family, Fools and Flippers Edition. It is their second model – the Projekt 01 being the first. The Projekt 02 features a topographical dial with 67 stacked dial plates housed in a die-cast stainless steel case with a glass box shaped sapphire crystal.
kollokium was founded in 2020 by Amr Sindi, Nicolas Barth Nussbaumer, and Manuel Emch – three watch industry friends. Manuel Emch is also the CEO of Louis Erard, whose interesting and often unconventional collaborations we have covered such as Le Régulateur Louis Erard x Vianney Halter II, Régulateur Louis Erard X Sylvie Fleury Palette of Shadows, Time Eater Tourbillon Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin, and Gravée Main.

Dial
Topographical dial with 67 stacked dial plates across 9 layers. Dial plates are hand-painted with white lacquer infused with Super-LumiNova (green emission). Warm silver-coloured hour and minute hands with applied Lichtblock™ elements and coated with Super-LumiNova (green emission). Fluorescent, orange-coloured seconds hand.
“It should be noted that given just how much of the dial work is done by hand, industrial-level perfection and super-tight tolerances are not the aim of the game for us. We rejoice in the fact that no two dials will be identical, and that some discrepancies are only natural in this kind of work. In fact, we’re so proud of it that we offer a full panoramic view of the dial through the tall sapphire crystal with rounded edges.”
Case
Monobloc die-cast case is made from 316L stainless steel. Dial side features a cylindrical shaped glass box sapphire crystal with rounded edges. Case diameter: 39.5 mm. Height without sapphire crystal: 5.9 mm. Height with sapphire crystal: 12.40 mm. Water resistant up to 5 ATM or approximately 50 metres. The watch comes with a khaki green-coloured elastic textile single-piece strap fitted with a “hook” buckle made from die-cast stainless steel.
“An element that we believe makes kollokium stand out from the rest is our approach to making cases. Instead of the tried and tested methods of CNC milling or stamping (yuck), we use a method that isn’t commonly found in watchmaking: diecasting. By working with a mold, the molten 316L stainless steel can take on forms that would be difficult to achieve with other methods, while also exhibiting a unique matte texture that requires no finishing. It’s steel in all its raw glory.”
Movement
Powered by La Joux-Perret G101, a Swiss Made automatic movement that drives the hours, minutes, and seconds with stop seconds function. Diameter: 26 mm. Thickness: 4.45 mm. Jewels 24. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 68 hours (approximately).
Our Thoughts
kollokium’s Projekt 02 would (most likely) never be born from a much larger mainstream watch brand. Thanks to Messrs Sindi, Nussbaumer, and Emch – the audacious Projekt 02 exists. Its intricate dial and die-cast case highlight the fact that horology does not necessarily have to centre on an “in-house” movement. It is relatively affordable and available online (in addition to a select handful of retailers worldwide).
Five years on since its founding, kollokium is alive and kicking, and the Projekt 02 – FFF&F Edition is already sold out. I look forward to other variants – which given their track record with Projekt 01 – promises to be interesting and an awesome addition to almost any watch collection.
