Hublot introduces new versions of its MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System

Hublot has introduced two new versions of its MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System. Originally unveiled in titanium, it is now available in a black ceramic case and a sapphire case.

A futuristic watch, the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System does without a dial, hands, and an oscillating weight. Instead, it features roller displays for hours, minutes, seconds and power reserve, an inclined tourbillon, and automatic winding by 2 linear weights.

Our Thoughts

Watches with alternate time displays are less common than those that indicate time using conventional hands. The MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System displays time and power reserve via cylinders. Its tourbillon is almost vertical (inclined at 35°). (The F.P. Journe Tourbillon Souverain – Ref. TV features a vertical tourbillon.) The 2 vertical weights on the left and right of the case for automatic winding provide horological theatre. The MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System is mechanically complex and unique.

Hublot is renowned for its expertise in materials. Most brands would struggle with materials such as black ceramic or sapphire. Hublot manages to house this mechanical masterpiece in both black ceramic and sapphire!

The MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System is ideal for collectors that appreciate alternate time displays, grand complications, and material innovation. It is hard to pick a favourite among these two. Whereas the black ceramic version is a logical top pick, the sapphire version is irresistible. While Hublot is renowned for its iconic Big Bang collection, I hope they continue to develop exceptional masterpieces such as the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System.
