Honda Gold Wing 2025: What’s New for the 50th Anniversary

A five-decade touring icon, the Gold Wing receives detail updates, new finishes, and improved connectivity for 2025.

Overview

The Honda Gold Wing marks 50 years in 2025, tracing its origins from an early 1,000cc naked bike to today’s GL1800 touring range. The model has long been popular across the Middle East and North Africa, where owners often display customised machines at regional ride events ahead of official launches.

Anniversary editions and styling

Honda has released 25YM detail updates for the Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour, including a 50th Anniversary edition of the GL1800 Gold Wing Tour. Two new paint options reference past models: an Eternal Gold and Mahogany Brown Metallic combination inspired by the 1988 GL1500, and a refined Bordeaux Red Metallic with black and gold graphics and subtle gold lettering. The standard GL1800 is available in a Mat Ballistic Black 50th Anniversary finish with softened Gold Wing logos on the panniers. Both the centre console and Smart Key feature a 50th Anniversary emblem with two-tone chrome detailing, and the digital dash includes a unique start-up animation.

Technology and comfort

The YM25 GL1800 models gain upgraded connectivity and audio. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now enabled, and the audio system and speakers have been improved for clearer sound at riding speeds. Rider and pillion connectivity has been enhanced to support modern touring needs.

Emissions and mechanical updates

Both models receive an added O2 sensor and revised ECU settings to meet Euro 5 regulations. These changes retain the Gold Wing’s emphasis on long-distance comfort while ensuring compliance with current emissions standards.

Availability and legacy

The updated 25YM GL1800 Gold Wing 50th Anniversary models are available to order and for test rides. The Gold Wing’s steady evolution from the GL1000 to the modern GL1800 underpins its role as a benchmark in long-distance motorcycling.
