Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin F1 team launch a new watch

The Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition marks the third collaboration between the Swiss watchmaker and the British car manufacturer.

Girard-Perregaux is a well-known name in the world of Horology. In 2021, Girard-Perregaux tied up with the British luxury sports car manufacturer Aston Martin and their F1 team Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant as the official watch partner. Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin have collaborated on two watches: the Tourbillon with three flying bridges Aston Martin Edition and the Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition.

Case

When you talk about the world of Formula One, you think of speed, precision, cutting edge performance and lightweight construction. The new Laureato Absolute Chronograph AM F1 Edition features just those exact things. A 44mm case manufactured out of a composition blend of titanium powder and carbon elements from two Aston Martin F1 cars used in the 2021 season. GP combined the above elements with tinted resin. Each watch will have its unique visual look and will look different from any other watch in the industry. The watch is also water-resistant up to 330ft/100m.

Strap

Girard-Perregaux did not just stop at the watch case; they went ahead and engineered the world’s first watch strap made out of Rubber Alloy. They then presented the strap in the colours of Aston Martin Racing Green which is made out of FKM rubber and has taken the same carbon elements from the two F1 cars from the 2021 season. The strap is supple and higher in resistance when compared to a conventional rubber strap, enriched with the appearance of fabric like facade on the strap. The buckle has a micro-adjustment system to fine-tune the watch to fit exactly how you like it.

Movement

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph is a series launched in 2019, and for the first time ever, it gets a sapphire crystal case-back. Now, the wearer can view the beautiful Calibre GP03300-1058 movement in its full glory with a power reserve of 46 hours. This movement features a chronograph, hour, minutes, small seconds and a date function. You will also find the Aston Martin F1 logo on the sapphire crystal case back.

Pricing

The Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team is based in Silverstone, England, close to the iconic F1 race track. Keeping this in mind, the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Chronograph AM F1 Edition will be limited to 306 pieces. Now, why such a specific number, you ask? The Silverstone circuit race will have 52 laps. The race’s total distance equals 306 km, which F1 drivers Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel will aim to drive at the next British Grand Prix. The Limited edition watch will retail for CHF 26,500/USD 27,800
