This summer, Formula 1 fans are in for a treat as the high-octane world of F1 hits the silver screen in F1, a new movie starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. The film blends thrilling fictional storytelling with real-life motorsport action, offering a unique cinematic experience for racing enthusiasts and moviegoers alike. Shot during actual Formula 1® race weekends, the movie promises authentic, adrenaline-pumping race sequences and an engaging narrative.Brad Pitt plays a former F1 driver making a dramatic return to the grid, teaming up with Damson Idris as part of the fictional APXGP team. This team competes alongside real F1® teams and drivers, adding to the film’s authenticity. Directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski and produced by a powerhouse team including Jerry Bruckheimer, Brad Pitt, and Lewis Hamilton, the film showcases the dedication and collaboration between Hollywood and the motorsport community. The F1 organisation, all ten teams, the FIA, and race promoters worked closely to bring the project to life.

Mercedes-AMG plays a key role in the film’s production and promotion. As an official partner, the brand contributed its technical expertise, high-performance F1 vehicles, and several standout sports cars, including the Mercedes-AMG GT, SL, and G-Class. The official FIA F1 Safety Car and Medical Car, both provided by Mercedes-AMG, also feature in action scenes throughout the movie.

To mark this unique partnership, Mercedes-AMG unveiled a limited-edition model—the AMG GT 63 4matic+ “APXGP Edition”—at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. Inspired by the movie’s APXGP team, this exclusive car merges cinematic flair with advanced engineering. Only 52 units will be produced, each finished in a distinctive paint scheme echoing the film’s race car livery, including hand-applied race gold accents on various exterior elements such as the radiator grille, side skirts, and diffuser blade.

Performance-wise, the APXGP Edition delivers top-tier specs, featuring a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with 585 hp, fully variable AMG Performance 4matic+ all-wheel drive, and high-tech features like the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension, semi-active roll stabilisation, rear-axle steering, and active aerodynamics. This balance of performance and practicality makes it a standout in the sports coupe segment, offering a 2+2 seating configuration and ample luggage space.

Inside, the vehicle carries the theme with premium materials and bespoke finishes. The cabin is fitted with black Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfibre, complemented by gold-coloured topstitching throughout. Carbon fibre trim with golden threads, a race gold-accented AMG steering wheel, and illuminated door sills engraved with the AMG logo complete the look. The interior is further enhanced by comfort and tech features, including a Burmester 3d Surround Sound System with 15 speakers, a 360° camera, a head-up display, ambient lighting, and various wellness-enhancing packages like ENERGISING Comfort and Air Control.

To preserve this collector’s item, each APXGP Edition car comes with a custom-made AMG Indoor Car Cover designed to protect it from dust and scratches. The package includes a “Limited Edition 1 of 52” badge in the centre console, underscoring the car’s exclusivity.

Set to hit theatres internationally on June 25, 2025, and in North America on June 27, F1 is more than a movie—it celebrates motorsport culture, innovation, and cinematic storytelling. Mercedes-AMG’s role cements its reputation as a brand at the intersection of high performance and high drama, both on screen and on the road.
