Mercedes-Benz has lifted the wraps off the all-new GLC, its first fully electric entry in the midsize SUV segment. Arriving in the first half of 2026, the GLC takes its legacy forward as the brand’s global bestseller, now reborn as a purpose-built EV with advanced EQ Technology, next-generation digital systems, and engineering borrowed straight from the flagship S-Class.
A New Benchmark In Electric SUV Design
The exterior reinterprets classic GLC proportions with a modern flair. Up front, the all-new illuminated chrome grille becomes a brand-defining design element, signalling Mercedes-Benz’s future face. Sculpted shoulder lines, pronounced wheel arches, and a dynamic silhouette emphasise both elegance and presence. The SUV’s profile has grown. The wheelbase stretches 84mm longer than the combustion-powered GLC, resulting in a roomier cabin and enhanced stability.

Dominating the dashboard is the seamless 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen — the largest yet on a Mercedes-Benz car. This is complemented by active ambient lighting and an optional Sky Control panoramic roof, transforming the cabin into a futuristic, immersive lounge. Want more sustainability? In an EV? Well, the Vegan Package introduces certified materials from The Vegan Society, making Mercedes-Benz the first automaker worldwide to offer an independently certified vegan interior. Insane!
Powertrain, Range & Charging
At launch, the top-tier GLC 400 4MATIC will deliver 360kW (482hp) with all-wheel drive and up to 713 km of range (WLTP). The SUV is built on an 800-volt electric architecture paired with a 94 kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup enables lightning-fast charging, adding as much as 303 km of range in just 10 minutes at compatible fast-charging stations.

Thanks to its bidirectional charging capability, the GLC isn’t just a consumer of power but also a supplier, supporting vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functions. For daily usability, Mercedes’ MB.CHARGE Public service offers customers the ability to reserve charging slots, a first in the industry. Obviously, this applies to certain markets only.
Sophisticated Engineering: From Ride Comfort To Utility
The GLC brings S-Class-level technology into the midsize SUV class. AIRMATIC air suspension with adaptive damping soaks up road imperfections, while 4.5-degree rear-axle steering shrinks the turning circle and boosts agility. Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the TERRAIN MODE, paired with the innovative “transparent bonnet” function that uses camera feeds to provide a virtual view of the ground under the vehicle.

Practicality is enhanced with 570 litres of luggage space (expandable to 1,740 litres) plus an additional 128-litre frunk. The SUV also sets new standards for towing, with a 2.4-tonne braked capacity and 100 kg drawbar load, enough for caravans, small boats, or bike carriers.
Intelligent Systems: MB.OS and Driving Assistance
Powering the SUV’s intelligence is MB.OS — the in-house operating system, capable of 254 trillion operations per second. It acts as the GLC’s superbrain, integrating infotainment, automated driving, charging, and comfort systems. Over-the-air updates keep the vehicle constantly refreshed with new features.
Driver assistance comes courtesy of MB.DRIVE — a suite of systems supported by ten cameras, five radar units, and twelve ultrasonic sensors. From cooperative steering to automated braking, MB.DRIVE offers an advanced level of semi-autonomous driving.
Comfort and Technology
Mercedes has doubled down on wellness and ergonomics. AGR-certified seats promise back-friendly comfort. The Energizing Comfort suite combines ambient lighting, massage, and curated programmes. Passengers also benefit from fourth-generation MBUX infotainment, now integrated with AI from both Microsoft and Google. The system can hold natural, context-aware conversations, handle follow-up questions, and give access to over 40 apps, including video streaming and Disney+.
A Defining Moment For The GLC
With extended range, advanced MB.OS intelligence, benchmark ride comfort, and segment-leading practicality, the new electric GLC positions itself as a game-changer in the midsize SUV category. Mercedes-Benz has not only retained the qualities that made the GLC its best-selling model worldwide but reimagined them for the electric era. When deliveries begin in 2026, the GLC 400 4MATIC will lead the line-up, followed by four additional variants catering to a wide spectrum of buyers.
