Fifth Generation Pirelli P Zero Launched

For decades, Pirelli has been at the forefront of high-performance tyre technology, and its flagship P Zero range has remained the top choice for the world’s fastest and most prestigious cars. Now, the Italian tyre giant has unveiled the fifth generation of the P Zero, promising more performance than ever before.

The P Zero has been a symbol of ultra-high performance (UHP) tyres since its debut in 1985. As a pioneer in the UHP segment, Pirelli’s P Zero has continuously evolved to meet the demands of premium and exotic car manufacturers, earning its place as the original equipment (OE) tyre of choice for some of the fastest and most advanced vehicles from brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Ford, Lotus, Maserati, and more.

Many of these supercars and hypercars are specifically tuned to perform at their peak while wearing P Zero rubber, making the tyre a crucial component in delivering track-level performance on the road. Now, with its fifth-generation iteration, Pirelli has pushed the boundaries even further.

Next-Generation For The Road & Track

The all-new P Zero leverages state-of-the-art virtual development techniques and artificial intelligence to optimize performance, handling, and safety. Pirelli’s research and development engineers have incorporated advanced AI algorithms and virtual prototype testing to refine the tyre’s structure and tread design, ensuring it excels in both dry and wet conditions.

One of the key highlights of the new P Zero is its significantly improved braking performance, resulting in shorter stopping distances. Additionally, the tyre has received an ‘A’ rating on the European wet grip label, further reinforcing Pirelli’s commitment to safety without compromising on performance.

The P Zero Line-Up

Pirelli’s fifth-generation P Zero will be available in sizes ranging from 18 to 23 inches, with over 50 products already introduced to cater to a wide array of premium and performance vehicles. This latest addition sits alongside other members of the P Zero family, which includes:

• P Zero Elect – Designed specifically for electric and hybrid vehicles, offering up to 10% increased range through reduced rolling resistance and noise reduction.
• P Zero R – Tailored for high-performance sports cars and SUVs, delivering maximum driving pleasure.
• P Zero Trofeo RS – A track-focused yet road-legal tyre developed for those seeking motorsport-level grip and handling.
• P Zero Winter 2 – A UHP winter tyre for uncompromising performance even in snowy and wet conditions.

Furthermore, Pirelli has already homologated specific versions of the new P Zero for high-performance vehicles such as the Lamborghini Urus SE, Audi A5, BMW M5 and M5 Touring, Mercedes GLE and GLS, Lucid Gravity, Polestar 4, Nio ET9, and Xiaomi SU7.

Forty Years In The Game

With over four decades of relentless innovation, the P Zero has become the gold standard for ultra-high-performance tyres. Pirelli’s close collaboration with top-tier automakers has resulted in more than 3,000 bespoke versions of the P Zero, tailor-made for legendary models like the Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Aventador, McLaren P1, Pagani hypercars, Aston Martin V12 Vantage, and the Porsche 911, among many others.

The P Zero’s technology has consistently pushed the envelope, leading to innovations like the P Zero Elect in 2019 and the P Zero E in 2023, which became the world’s first UHP tyre to feature over 55% sustainable materials while achieving a triple ‘A’ rating on the European tyre label.

The P Zero name first emerged in the motorsport world, serving as the tyre of choice for the highest levels of racing, including Formula 1.
