Farnborough Airshow: Boeing And Luxair Strike Deal For 737s
At the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow 2024, Boeing has bagged an order from European carrier Luxair. Per the paperwork, the airline has placed a firm order for two 737-10s with the option to purchase another two. The aircraft in question is the largest member of the 737 Max family.

Luxair’s present fleet consists of 21 aircraft, including two leased 737-8s and eight next-gen 737s. Adding the 737-10 to the list helps the carrier keep operational costs in check, as there is a high commonality among the various 737 variants. Also, the largest derivative of the lot can ferry more passengers. Boeing claims that based on the configuration, the 737-10 can deliver the lowest cost per seat of any single-aisle aeroplane.
Luxair aims to offer travellers at least a 30-inch seat pitch in its 737-10s. That means the aircraft can fly up to 213 passengers over distances of up to 5,740km (3,100 nautical miles) nonstop.
Over the last two years, the airline has expanded its route network by 30 per cent. It currently serves 94 destinations.
