Exploring the Latest BMW CE 04 Electric Scooter

Since its launch in the summer of 2021, the BMW CE 04 has set a standard for electric urban mobility. Its advanced zero-emission platform is designed for city use, and it leads in high-capacity electric scooters, which are over 11 kW. BMW Motorrad continues to improve the CE 04 by adding important features to keep it competitive. For rider comfort and protection, BMW provides options like a larger windshield with hand protectors and a heated comfort seat across most CE 04 models.

The Avantgarde and Exclusive trims come with new laser-engraved rear wheel rims that enhance their premium look. Additional options include a centre stand, anti-theft alarm, E-Call, quick charger, tire pressure monitoring, and various seat upgrades. The dynamic package stands out with features like adaptive headlights, ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and an extra “DYNAMIC” riding mode for better performance.

The CE 04 combines modern electric mobility with exciting riding dynamics, making it a top seller in its category. Manufactured at BMW Group’s Berlin facility, the historical home of BMW motorcycles, the CE 04 benefits from ongoing innovations, with several drive and control technologies currently awaiting patents. Its modern electric motor, unique design, and integrated connectivity set a new benchmark for urban transport and communication.

In terms of performance, the CE 04 achieves a peak output of 31 kW (42 hp) and can go from 0 to 50 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, making it well-suited for city traffic. The lower-output version, which meets A1 license requirements, still offers an impressive 23 kW (31 hp). Both models can reach a top speed of 120 km/h, making them suitable for city and highway driving. The CE 04 has a large 60.6 Ah (8.9 kWh) battery, providing a practical range of up to 130 km (100 km for the lower-output version). This range is more than enough for daily commuting and short regional trips. Charging options are versatile: the onboard charger works with regular outlets, wallboxes, or public stations.

A full charge takes about 4 hours and 20 minutes, but with the optional fast charger (6.9 kW), it can be done in just 1 hour and 40 minutes. Charging from 20% to 80% takes roughly 45 minutes using the fast charger. BMW’s “BMW Charging” services also simplify both home and on-the-go charging. For safety and stability, the CE 04 comes with Automatic Stability Control (ASC) as standard. Optional Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) maximises grip during acceleration and cornering. Standard riding modes—ECO, RAIN, and ROAD—offer flexibility for efficiency or performance, while the optional DYNAMIC mode enhances acceleration.

The chassis features a strong tubular steel frame with a single-sided swingarm and large tires (120/70 R15 front, 160/60 R15 rear) that inspire confidence in handling. Braking is managed by an advanced ABS system, with the optional ABS Pro adding a banking sensor for better safety while cornering. The cockpit includes a 10.25-inch TFT colour display with integrated map navigation and seamless connectivity. This is the first scooter to offer navigation directly within the main instrument cluster, making route guidance simpler.

The BMW CE 04’s innovative design, is highlighted by its Lightwhite finish, matte black accents, and floating seat, marks a new era in urban two-wheeled mobility. Its technical features, safety systems, and premium options position it as a leader in the segment, appealing to both individual riders and urban mobility fleets looking for reliability, innovation, and brand prestige.
