What is the new Edge UltraSlim Mechanical?
It is an ultra-thin hand-wound watch crafted by Edge by Titan, a sub brand of India’s Titan Watch Company (“Titan”). Fastrack, Raga, Sonata, Nebula and others are watch brands of Titan. Part of India’s USD 185 billion (annual revenue) TATA Group, Titan produces anywhere between 15 to 18 million watches every year, making it among the largest watchmakers in the world.

What are its dial features?

Two dial versions: White and Black. Hours and indicated by the thin hour disc (black on the white dial version and white on the black dial version), and minutes by the large central disc. The hour-markers are puff-printed, for “subtle dimensionality” and an “improved legibility and tactile visual effect.”
What are its case and bracelet features?
The case is from Grade 2 titanium and measures 40 mm (diameter) * 5.7 mm (thickness). Dial side and caseback feature a sapphire crystal. It is water resistant up to 3 ATM or approximately 30 metres.
The watch comes with a Grade 2 titanium bracelet fitted with a customised folding buckle.
How thin is its movement?

The Edge 903 Calibre is only 2.2 mm thin! An open-worked hand-wound movement, it drives the hour and minute discs, comprises 18 jewels, beats at a modern frequency of 4 Hz or 28,800 vph and delivers a power reserve of 42 hours. Winding and time-setting are performed via the crown at 3 o’clock. Accuracy: +/- 12 seconds per day.
“The Edge 903 calibre, measuring only 2.20 mm in thickness, was required to drive two independent rotating discs while maintaining precision, efficiency and structural integrity. Achieving this demanded a complete rethinking of the motion-work architecture. Through a re-engineered drive path, lateral energy transmission and an optimized gear layout, the movement was able to power the distinctive display without compromising the extreme thinness that defines the Edge collection. An anti-backlash mechanism further enhances stability and positional accuracy, ensuring the discs advance with clarity and precision.”
What do we think?

As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations in 2024 (Titan was founded in 1984), the brand unveiled its first ever tourbillon. They was followed by the Nebula by Titan “JALSA” Tourbillon in 2025, a watch that showcased a Métiers d’Art dial; a miniature painting of Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal by renowned artist Sri Shakir Ali. Priced at Indian Rupees (INR) 40,50,000 (approximately Swiss Franc (CHF) 35,000), the “JALSA” is a limited edition of 10 watches. The brand submitted the “JALSA” as an official entry in the 2025 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) awards under the Artistic Crafts category.
For a brand that has mostly specialised in producing high-quality affordable quartz watches for an aspirational audience in India and elsewhere, haute horology models like the “JALSA” are a huge step for them. It signifies a desire to entice a sophisticated global watch collector audience.

The Edge UltraSlim Mechanical is part of this journey. Ultra-thin watches are often the most difficult watchmaking genre to get right, more so than most tourbillons and perpetual calendars. Judging by the images and specifications, the brand has done a commendable job.
The brand has entered the black dial version for the 2026 GPHG awards under the Essential category. It will compete with 33 watches, including exceptional creations such as the Audemars Piguet Neo Frame Jumping Hour and Daniel Roth Extra Plat Rose Gold Skeleton!
No matter what transpires at the GPHG awards ceremony on 7th November 2026, for me personally, both the brand and the watch are already winners. Not because I too am from India, but because I have seen the brand’s evolution up close from 1994 onwards. My late mother was a Titan authorised dealer, and I developed an affinity and understanding of the brand and its watches. I also became a customer, both for gifting purposes and for myself. If they continue this trajectory of crafting audacious mechanical watches, and mind you, there will be hits and misses along the way, I am sure Titan will get etched into the minds of global watch collectors seeking exceptional watches.
