De Bethune launches the DBD Evergreen at Dubai Watch Week !

An Iconic Avant-Garde Timepiece with a Linear Triple Calendar Display.

Dubai Watch Week: 16th – 20th November 2023.

De Bethune (DB) – among the most Iconic and Prestigious Independent Watch Manufacture’s in the world – has chosen Dubai Watch Week (DWW) to launch their Iconic DBD Evergreen. In De Bethune’s own words, ‘A creation that transcends mere elegance, this exceptional piece draws inspiration from the profound symbolism of the colour green, a hue rich with meaning in the extensive history and culture of the Middle East.’

Design:

This avant-garde timepiece is a manually wound Triple Calendar with a digital time display. On the top part of the dial, the Day of the Week, Date and Month, are displayed in a linear manner. Near the centre of the dial, the top part of an Arc displays the Minutes. Towards the lower part of the dial, there is an aperture displaying the Jumping Hours. De Bethune had launched the first DBD in 2006, and crafted thirty-nine models, offered in rose and white gold. Displaying the calendar information in a linear style was no small horological feat and was considered a ‘significant milestone in the world of horology.’  The DBD Evergreen is another iteration of this iconic timepiece, and the world of horology is all the better for it.

Case:

The DBD Evergreen has a lightweight case, crafted in polished grade 5 titanium. Its crown is situated at 12’o Clock, enabling the wearer to set the hours and minutes. The Day, Date and Month are set individually via three individual correctors. The case has ogive or cone-shaped lugs and is decorated with Cotes de Geneva pattern on its green dial. It has a case diameter of 42.6 mm and case thickness of 9.4 mm. The DBD Evergreen is water resistant to 3 ATM. It will be delivered with a two-tone beige and green textile strap, which matches the colour of the dial, as well as an extra-supple black alligator strap. It has a pin buckle in grade 5 titanium.

Movement:

In-house manually wound calibre DB2044 powers this timepiece, and is laden with impressive De Bethune features such as:

Titanium balance-wheel with white gold inserts, optimised for temperature differences and air penetration. De Bethune Patent (2016).

De Bethune balance-spring with flat terminal curve. De Bethune Patent (2006).

Silicon escape wheel.

Triple para-chute shock-absorbing system. De Bethune Innovation (2005).

It comprises a total of 309 parts and 29 jewels and beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour. It has a power reserve of 5 days, which is ensured by the self-regulating twin barrel. Typical of De Bethune, the calibre is finished to an excellent standard. This includes:
