dAHLer Returns With Stage Two Upgrade For The New M2

The stage one performance boost bumps the turbocharged 3.0-litre heart to 552hp.

When it comes to sprucing up fast BMWs, we usually think of German tuning houses. And why not? They’ve been at it for decades. But there are a few other non-German names in the same space who are right up there among the best. Switzerland’s dAHLer is a fine example, and its stage one boost for the new-gen M2 makes for a potent case. However, the Belp-based tuner is back with a stage two performance upgrade for the “petite” M coupe.

The stage two tune bumps the output to 630hp/750Nm. That’s 170hp/200Nm more than the standard M2 and 78hp/90Nm more than dAHLer’s stage one performance upgrade. An Eventuri carbon fibre intake, mated with sports air filters, enters the equation. The unwanted gases escape through a stainless steel exhaust system, rounded off with matte black ceramic-coated double tailpipes measuring 100mm or 108mm in diameter. Thanks to a bi-flap control in the mix, the sound output can be tweaked.

All new parts, individually or in all possible combinations, comply with WLTP and Euro 6d standards and carry EU/CH homologation approvals. The same holds for the 8-speed automatic and the 6-speed manual transmissions. And for that extra something under the bonnet, dAHLer has added an engine cover and strut braces made of carbon fibre. The same expensive material is used for the coupe’s appearance and aero enhancements. The list includes a three-part front spoiler lip with side winglets, inserts on the front grille and air inlets on the bumper. The wing at the back is available in two versions, both made of carbon fibre. Rounding off the exterior are carbon fibre ORVM caps and a rear diffuser.

The wheels. The forged rims from the Swiss tuner measure 21 inches in diameter, wrapped with 275/25ZR21 and 295/25ZR21 tyres at the front and rear, respectively. Those who’d prefer a smaller setup can opt for the 20-inch forged rims with tyres boasting 5mm taller walls. The semi-gloss black finish of the wheels is just an example. Virtually any colour-based look is possible.

Like the wheels, there are options for the suspension upgrades. dAHLer’s sports springs, made specifically for the M2, drop the ride height by 28mm. However, those looking for more flexibility can go with the coilover suspension. That offers adjustable height and stiffness in the compression and rebound stages. The tuner is also ready to equip adjustable struts for the front axles and adjustable tie rods for the rear. Another upgrade that one might consider is the introduction of sports brake linings and Stahlflex brake lines to accompany the factory-installed M Compound braking system.

So, that’s stage two for you. What’s your take on dAHLer’s efforts here?
